I had gastric bypass yesterday and I've had so much gas pressure and pain. They say to walk, but that hurts and all I want to do i sleep.< /p>

Walking will help. Also have a friend do karate chops on your neck and shoulders several times a day. Good luck!

Get up and move around!! It will help that gas dissipate much more quickly.

You have to push yourself. You can do it. I started walking 4 hrs after my sergery. I was out of the hospital the following day. I pushed myself to walk and I had a speedy recovery. The more you walk the beter you will feel. Good luck! Stay positive. =)

You got to get moving...regardless of how much you want to lay down. This is one of the first examples of having to push through and do what is good for you...there will be a plethora of similar things in the future...that's why this is NOT the " easy way out."

Honey you need a good fart or two. Push yourself to walk. Also when in the bed do arm raises as if you were lifting dumb bells. If you can ease up on the amount of pain meds you take, it will make you more alert and less sleepy. You've got to move to get that gas out.

Walking is absolutely critical to move that gas out of your tummy. When lying down use a heating pad, it really helps. Als gas x chewables or strips will do you a lot of good. Like someone else said, try to back off pain meds, the do not help the gas pain and they make you very sleepy.

This is your first big hurdle, you have to push yourself hard.

Last but not least, you must sip sip sip all day long to stay hydrated. That can also cause you to feel sleepy, lightheaded and nauseous.

Good luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
