I'm so excited, I scheduled my date with Dr. Ortiz at ALM. I never thought this was ever going to happen. I've had it as a goal for a few years and was having trouble with my insurance company. Well, I'm skipping the insurance and paying out of my pocket. I have been reading the board for a few weeks and I know I'm making the right decision for me. Happy Journeys everyone.

Thank you Rocky. I am going to try cutting my portion sizes now, so when it all happens I won't be so out of sorts. My roommate had the surgery last year here in the States and is going to help guide me on portion size. I am a volume eater.

Congratulations! I am having my surgery through ALM as well! My big day is May 18th and I am excited and nervous at the same time! I've never flew anywhere before. This will be my first time on an airplane. Flying scares me more than anything lol!

I just paid for it. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. It is coming up fast. I'm so excited.

Natoshia78 congratulations! Is it a long flight? I always get an aisle seat, I am claustrophobic. I know I can't get out. I live in Southern California so I am driving to the border.

I started my pre-op diet yesterday. It wasn't so bad. I am hungry though. I just need to find things to occupy my time and stop thinking about what I can't eat. Looking forward to going back to work tomorrow, that will help pas the time.

I live in Arkansas so the flight will take 5hrs. I talked with my hubby about driving to San Diego because we might not be able to afford both airfares. If we drive it will take like 3 1/2 days. I might save money driving...

Anyway good luck with your pre-op diet! I have already started making changes in my diet so that my pre-op diet won't be so bad. I am so happy for you Hun!

Is your name Marchand?

My name is Nancy. Driving is a good alternative and gas is pretty cheap stil. I won't drive if you have the extra time. I go back to work the day after I get home. I sit at a desk and use my brain all day so they said as long as I don't lift anything I should be ok. Good luck on your adventure. Sending you love and light for your journey. Maybe ask spirit to make it a graceful and easy journey and see what happens. I gave been turning this whole process over and the doors have been opening.

I asked if your name was Marchand because I have been communicating with a lady named Marchand who is also having her surgery May2 through ALM. I met her on the ALM FB group.

Thank you for your prayers Nancy. I pray that your adventure is safe as well, and good luck on your new journey in life.

Natoshia

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
