Serena 0 Posted June 7, 2007 Maybe I'm concerned for nothing, but I was banded on June 4 and have never been able to feel anything under the port incision. Perhaps I will feel it after all the swelling goes down. Thanks in advance for any feedback sent my way.
driveabus1 0 Posted June 8, 2007 I have the same question. I was banded on the 4th also.
DrHekier 0 Posted June 8, 2007 Don't worry. Some people can feel it, others can not. Don't worry it's still there. I remember about 3 years ago one of our patients called us frantically to say that her port flipped and didn't feel right. She rushed over to the office and said "Here feel this, feel this under my scar on the right side of my belly." We told her "The port is on the other side ." She couldn't tell where the port was. For some people however it is more noticeable.
Serena 0 Posted June 8, 2007 Dr. Hekier, Thanks for the reassurance! I did check all incision sites before I posted in case I was mistaken about which one was the port. My best guess was that the port was the biggest incision, which is the only one feels sore.
Batgirl23 0 Posted June 14, 2007 I think it's a good thing that you don't feel your port. 1. It means that it's sewn in good and tight. 2. You're swollen and your body just needs to adjust to everything and it sounds like it's doing that well. 3. It's good not to feel your port under your skin now because after you lose those extra inches, you don't want to look like a quarter is trying to pop out from your tummy. Don't worry, your doc will know where to find it.
GayleTX 1 Posted June 14, 2007 Well, after losing 135 lbs, I finally feel mine. But the dr has had no problem finding it for the fills. Guess that's why they do it for us!!
Serena 0 Posted June 14, 2007 Thank you, Batgirl. Your reply makes so much sense. Speaking of swelling, about how long does it take for the swelling to subside?
Paulax 8 Posted June 14, 2007 Well, I couldn't feel mine at first, but now that I have dropped over 80 pounds I can feel it......lol!
cyndy40 0 Posted June 14, 2007 The more weight I lose, the more I can feel my port. With that said, I have always been able to tell where it is since I had my surgery. Everything else being equal, this is an individualized situation like so many other things with this band.
