Okay, I saw the new watch at my gym. You still have to wear the armband, so if you have it don't fret. The watch can be worn as a watch or the face comes off and can be worn on a belt or put into your purse. It's like a bluetooth device that reads the info from your armband and give you immediate information. It's for convience so you don't have to download it to know how many steps you've walked, etc. One nice thing about it is that you can set it to read a particular event, kind of like a stop watch. So it will tell you how many calories your workout burned or you can set it to tell you when you've burned say 150 calories. That way you know if that is what it takes to meet your goal. The extra device costs $100. Don't sure if I'll get one or not. Hope that helps you understand what it is.

Karey,

Do you know if the extra device works with the older model, or do you have to upgrade the whole unit? For $100, it might be worth it for me because I can't check the cals burned from work, which is annoying. But it's probably not worth replacing the whole unit....

Thanks for the info!

I like the thought of checking at work too...someone on here said they stand and fidget more to watch their calories burn faster but I don't have the ability while on conference calls to see my calorie burn but If I could -- I would do it just to watch the calories burning off by the second and it would definitely make it so that you are more aware of this happening:clap2:! It would be worth an extra $100.

Well, I got in a deficit of 2400 today. I ran 8 miles this morning and went to a kickboxing class this evening. Ate 1200 cals to be able to do all that, but it was worth it. So much fun!

more info on the "watch"

24 hour fitness has them (only 4 in stock) and cannot (will not) sell until Friday. They are $99+tax and they give you an immediate readout of where you are.

i had them reserve one for me. yup, imageek.

I thought so, but I overdid it because I binge-ate Skittles yesterday. I think it was, in part, due to overdoing it with both the running and the boxing the day before. I need to learn moderation, no matter what end it's on....Ugh.

ok, so i did cave and bought it. the device costs $99, but the experience actually cost me $716, i bought 10 more full hour sessions with my trainer.

it is really cool and VERY simple to set up. you basically push and hold buttons and then synch your bugg.

attached are 2 pics.

the "watch" is pretty ugly so i will more than likely just clip it on my clothes and wear it that way.

I think I will get a watch to. I like the instant feedback. The BB powers to be decided that one of more sensors weren't working on my bugg, so I send it back tomorrow and wait for a new one. I had it off for the last week while we went out of the country and I really miss it. Just having it on my arm is motivating. I am 1.5 pounds away from my goal and gained 2 pounds on our trip. GRRRR! I hope that comes off quickly. Anyway, everyone who buys the separate wristband please report in and let us know if you really do think it's helpful.

Hey all - I'm on the fence regarding buying the BB or not. I Just invested in myself to the tune of $575 for a year membership at the gym, so I'm not sure I want to part with the money for the BB as well. Do you really think it is worth the cash? Do you use it beyond the first few weeks?

Thanks, Cherry

it is strapped to my arm and clipped on my dress as i type ... it is a phenominal motivator ... especially with steps taken (11000+ a day) and cals burned a minute on the elliptical. i know when i should be pushing harder ...

good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
