Tried some meatloaf tonight. It didn't go so well

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I'm in week 4 post op. I've been on the mushy stage about 9 days eating a bit of ground turkey, pork and chicken, cooked in a crock pot with some low carb veggies. I've had no problems with any of it so I decided to try meatloaf. That did not go so well. I found myself hiccuping and feeling some slight discomfort. I chewed it well, but it must be too soon.

Just thought I'd share this in case anyone else decides to try this

All the best

B

Beef I was told was tough initially. Perhaps turkey meatloaf?? Good to know!

Every "hiccup" you have can save me and someone else some trouble so not falling on blind eyes, please share away. :)

Yes, I have had no issues with ground turkey, pork or chicken. Or anything else I have eaten for that matter. This was a first.

Lesson learned. Next time I'll make it with some pork mixed in. One serving however contains 41g of protien!

Just asking, what else was in your meatloaf (for me, green peppers, which I LOVE in meatloaf, hates me...no really. It HATES me!)? Could it have been something like that? So sorry for you, I love meatloaf.

Well, then, me thinks it is probably too soon for such dense meat, even ground. Give it awhile, then try it again. You could freeze your leftovers and keep trying it out. It will dry out some in the freezer, so reheat it in some foil in a regular oven, at a lower temperature. Good luck with it!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
