I'm noticing that people who never spoken to me before are suddenly speaking to me and at times I find it uncomfortable... I mean I know I wasn't invisible at 378lbs what makes me different at 325 lbs...

Any specific reason for this, do you think? Are you referring to your life where you are, or on this website? I'm assuming you mean in your life, so I'm thinking it is because they see a change in you and may not be able to place it yet. Can you see it as a good thing? Although you may be uncomfortable with it, can you smile at them and make small talk until you become more familiar with them? People like to see positive changes other people make in their lives, and you may be an inspiration to them! And congrats on your weight loss, well done!!!

For some of us it seems that with weight loss surgery you project a positive and confident self image. People seem to approach and talk to you more.

Just wait until you're 187 (your goal weight?)...everyone will talk to you then, lol. I am more open to conversation now than when I was fat, so that could be part of the reason. As you lose weight, you gain confidence. Of course, I am 100% sure that the men that hit on me now would never have given me the time of day 100 pounds ago, so I don't entirely dismiss the fact that people are more interested in being friendly with people who are not overweight. Kind of blunt, but I also tend to think sometimes it is true.

I know the feeling. But......I haven't changed how I feel about those who never talked to me before. When they say how good I look, I just say "Thank you" and go about my way.

If they were not good enough to talk to me when I was 300 pounds, why bother talking to me know. Again, I have not changed I am still the same person, just my body image has changed.

Don't become friends with someone that couldn't be friends prior. Those are not friends at all.

You will make new friends along the way that see you for who you are now and never knew you before.....those are the people I would start being friends with.

Please don't change for them, change for you.,

I know it's a weird feeling. I've lost about 60lbs between pre op and 4 weeks post op. I went shopping the other day and I actually had sales people from just about every department ask me if I needed help. Before I could shop all day and basically be invisible. It kind of made me sad to think how I was treated before even though I was fully aware of why I was ignored.

I'd bet it's the energy you are putting off. You have done this for you despite the haters. You are likely exuding a new confidence that makes you more approachable.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
