I'm 3 months post op. I'm at a stall. Lately I've been socializing a lot and I've been drinking alcohol. I have like 2-3 drinks, rarely any carbonation.

Is this ok? I feel fine. I don't get sick.

Anyone wanna share their thoughts?

I was told it's fine to drink occasionally, but to be careful about drinking too much or too often. You say you've been socializing "a lot". How frequently is that?

It could be the extra cals from the drinks.

Try cutting them out for a few weeks and see if the weight starts dropping again.

HI.

Three words: LOTS OF SUGAR. Sugar breaks down into what? FAT...... This could be why you are not losing weight. Carbs and Sugars = NOT GOOD>

Sorry to be blunt.

Annamarie.

Medically it's fine to drink in moderation after the sleeve, however just remember to count those calories. When I socialize, I'm not a big drinker but I do tend to snack more, so don't forget to add in the handful of chips, or the bite of wings, or all of the other things we mindlessly consume when we are drinking and having fun with friends. Also, I am a fan of girly drinks, so while the shot of tequila in the margarita isn't a ton of calories, all the sugar in the mix is not really the greatest thing for a diet. When I did drink more frequently I found that I weighed more than when I didn't....but technically as long as you're accounting for all of the empty calories, then enjoy drinking dinner occassionally, lol.

Okay, my tummy couldn't handle booze so soon after surgery. I tried a few sips of red wine about 4-5 months post op and it burned...

I waited till I was at goal in all honesty but I had alot to lose and felt that sense of urgency to take advantage of the "honeymoon" period to get to goal.

Now, when i go out, if I drink it is typically a vodka/soda/lime. Yes, some carbonation, but the mixer doesn't have sugar carbs in it. I also have it in a tall tall glass so it lasts me a long time - I have one drink usually.

Then, I chose to go to places that have GOOD apps, not deep fried, but things like shrimp skewers, or other "clean food". I eat it bascially as my dinner, and NOT chips or fries.

I have gone out twice in the last year and drank. We were told it was a bad idea because the drinks are super high in calories and sugar. When I drank I got drunk fast and sobered up fast but the calories weren't worth it to me.

I drink Vodka and I am almost at 3 months. I consider the Calories in my Daily food Plan. Sugar is a worry if you are using Mixers. My tummy tolerates Alcohol much better than food, and it is more enjoyable.

That's been my experience with alcohol post-op as well. I get buzzed/drunk from way less alcohol now than I did pre-sleeve, but I also sober up super quick.

I haven't had alcohol yet but I use the Crystal Light liquid now with Water. When I do plan to have a drink, I want to try Vodka w/ ice water and I'll squirt some of my Crystal Light liquid for flavor. I want to stay away from the sugary drinks

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
