Leave for Phoenix tomorrow, surgery is Wed. Mar 18

Recommended Posts

I just finished my last Protein Drink for a while. My surgery is Wednesday, and I am supposed to be on Clear liquids all day tomorrow. Today I got very nervous. I was trying to do what I can before the surgery, but my chronic pain issues force me to stop and sit frequently. I've been mostly excited until today. Today, I remember the pain after abdominal surgeries of the past. I am having an open revision. Any suggestions for things I should take to the hospital, or what I should have at home for afterward.

I would only take things I really need like my toiletries , perhaps a journal to write, cell phone with charger and only one outfit. You do not want all a lot of stuff because you won't use it . Wear there gown because it's easier for them to work with you, you can wear another gown as a robe because remember you will have Iv and a Iv pole that you will be toting around when you walk . I am so excited for you and remember in a few short weeks you will be feeling and looking great . Congrats on you being healthy in regards to home just make sure you have your Protein Shakes and your going to do fine keep us posted you got this .

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
