I have been so nauseous this evening. My Zofran is not working and nothing tastes good ????. I just want to sip on a diet ginger ale.... I know I can't have it. I've tried Water, chicken broth, flavored water, iced tea,.... Nothing is really cutting it. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure what is causing my nausea... I've only gotten in half my Vitamins today and I've had a Protein Shake and some mushy foods earlier today before my nausea got worse.

I just want to sip on a cold diet ginger ale.....

How long are you from your surgery? And what did you have? The first I was told that I had to wait 30 mins to drink something after I eat..the only thing we should be able to to drink is Water and Protein Drink. No soda of any kind nor ice tea unless if it Crystal light power you put in ur water for the taste.. Eat slowly and chew 20x's before you chew it down.

That nausea could be caused by dehydration. Are you getting enough Water at this point? It is the most important thing you can do for yourself in the beginning. If you have to use an app to track your Water intake. I use myfitness pal but there are some others out there.

If the nausea keeps up call your doctor right away.

I hope you feel better soon.

My dr called me yesterday and wantede to come in for IV fluids this morning. She suspects I'm dehydrated which is why I'm so nauseous.

But my lil boy woke up sick this morning and I don't have a sitter so I am drinking Power ade (sugar free) and she phoned me in Promathezine for my nausea as well. But that knocks me out. I'm trying to drink my liquids and just get re-hydrated and see what tomorrow brings.

I hope you feel better tomorrow. I am a total Coke Zero addict and I fear the cravings after the surgery. I think the soda and the caffeine will be the two biggest things for me to give up. Anyway, I wish you the best.

I am feeling better today. I'm taking the anti nausea medicine every six hours I've been able to drink power ade today

The funny thing about soda- before surgery I maybe had 2 sodas a week. I had been able to kick that habit awhile ago. But lately with being sick I've wanted to sip on a soda bc that's what I always did before when I was sick to my stomach.

Glad to hear you are feeling a little better today. The most important thing you can do for yourself at this stage is get your fluids in. If you don't, you will be back in the hospital.

Fluid, Protein, Vitamins and exercise(walking) are the most important things in your new life.

Peppermint gum is my go-to for an unsettled stomach. Also, I drink a lot of herbal tea, chamomile and/or peppermint are great for the tummy as well. Good luck.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and support. I was back in the gym today ???? and am getting my Water and Protein in. My nausea is gone (knock on wood).

I am down 25 lbs in 3 weeks woohoo! Not worried that the scale hasn't moved in a week. But I did get into a pair of old jeans ????

I'll take that as a win!

BEWARE OF DIET DRINKS!!! I have a few friends, as well as family members who drink diet sodas because they claim it's "not as bad as the full calorie brand." WRONG! If you're going to drink a soda, drink a soda. Diet drinks contain a chemical called aspartame. Aspartame is a manufactured chemical used to "sweeten" diet foods. Just because it states it's "DIET" does not mean is good for you. IN FACT...aspartame causes formaldehyde build up in the brain as well as frontal lobe inflammation. This leads to Migraines and neurological problems. Aspartame causes aberrations in your vision and loss of bone density due to the phosphoric acid as well. Sadly, drinking these "diet drinks" you end up GAINING weight. The aspartame manufactures are no better than the cigarette industries. It's designed to get you addicted at any cost. DRINK WATER...it's natural...and free! (Mostly) haha

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
