Hey ladies, I have a slightly private matter, has any of you had your surgery when you were very close to your time of the month, or even had surgery when it was time? I am scheduling my surgery around the time I can get off from work, then I just realized that it also may be that time for me too. How would the recovery be??? Help????

My friend came to visit me in the hospital the day after my surgery. Not the most pleasant thing, but didn't impact my recovery at all. I was up and around quickly and apart from being a bit yucky, no issue. The dr. said sometimes anesthesia can bring it on!

i Worry About The Same Thing. That Time Is Usually A Miserable Time For Me, And I Know That There Is Going To Be Swelling And Gas Pains, And I Don't Wanna Feel Doubly Miserable. Of Course I Won't Say No If They Schedule Me During That Time Lol.

Thanks ladies, sounds like it won't be too bad, I guess I was more worried about being able to bend over to take care of business. Mahalo again

Mine was about a week after surgery and it was difficult to bend while sitting on the potty. Had to opt for the 1 foot up on the toilet seat method, ya know. HAHA. Other than that it was not too difficult.

I was banded this past Wednesday and started the minute I walked in the hospital. The blood thinners they gave me have made it a little worse than normal. It just humiliating know that you're on the operation table in that condition. I begged and pleaded for my underware as soon as I woke up!

I got it the day after and honestly it was the best period i have ever had. Usually i have so much pain but with all the pain killers i felt nothing. it was such a breeze.

I got mine the day before surgery. I was in NO way canceling surgery over something like that...I mentioned it to the nurse and got to wear those lovely fish-net panties. Make sure you bring your own pad. They will NOT let you wear a tampon into surgery. And the hospital pads are those Huge diapers they give you after you give birth!!! ( I was happy I brought my own). After surgery...you're on pain meds...so it's not a problem to take care of business. Don't worry about it!!! Surgery is way more important!

I am going to be right there with you'll! My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning and I am thinking I will start today or tomorrow! The more I thought about it I thought it would probably be better because I will have the pain meds!!!

If you are already on the pill, call your OB/GYN. For PCOS / endometriosis, etc, I take the pill non-stop for 3ish months at a time and choose when I will have a period by when I stop taking the pill. Works for me! My GYN said she was perfectly okay with me taking them as long as six months if I was worried about the surgery and having a period - she was far more interested in my losing weight. Although I have had periods since surgery (including several days after - I agree the anesthesia and body shock can bring it on) they have all been better than average.

years ago I had gallbladder surgery and began by period right before the surgery. I told the nurse and she said it wouldn't be a problem. I don't remember what they did but I didn't have any problems at all.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
