I was sleeved on 3/10. I sort of layes on my side in the hospital on night 2. The nurse pushed a pillow under my back. Last night was my first night home and I slept in my bed and started on my right side and middle of night switched to left side. It was sore at first to get in that position but once there it was great! I rolled up a blanket and put it under my belly.

The first couple days are the worst. Make the nurse give you the anti nausea and gas stuff. This will help.

In a few days you will be up and going in no time

I was able to get stuff for reflux, as well as, dilaudid, valium, and anti nausea..the whole time I was there. I was comfortable, and able to walk well.

I was on IV and not given anything to drink the first day. The second morning I was given ice chips, and they were very painful. The gave me foamies. The nurse said that most patients do better by pacing it out and sucking on one ice chip every 5 minutes. That did the trick for me. It also helped train me when I started on actual Water to take very tiny sips and pace them several minutes apart. I probably didn't have more than 12 oz of Fluid that second day, but by day 3 and 4 the swelling was down and I have been getting 60+ ounces in daily since.

The walking really helps to move the trapped air out. A heating pad is great too. I really wondered what the heck I had done to myself on the second day.... I had acid, gas pains, surgery pain. By day 4 I turned the corner and started feeling much much better. Trust everyone that says it gets better everyday, the miserable parts really do get better fast.

I was sipping Water the night of my surgery. No problems with Water initially, but after the first day or so water felt "harsh" on my tummy so I drank pedialyte, Gatorade, Decaf herbal tea and dilute fruit juice (I couldn't do artificial sweeteners, either as they hurt my sleeve). Slept on my back that first night. Hospital bed was slightly elevated, so side sleeping was impossible. I left the surgical center about 16 postop and went shopping. Never needed any pain Meds or anti nausea Meds. I just walked and walked and sipped on chicken broth, pedialyte and decaf tea and fresh fruit popsicles (not SF) for the first 3 days until I was cleared for full liquids and could start drinking Protein shakes and drinkable yogurt. I was sleeping on both sides as of that second night. I just had to pin the drain bulb to the inside of my PJs so I didn't roll over it. Took about 2-3 weeks before I could sleep on my stomach because I felt so bloated.

Took about 3-4 months before I could drink plain water again.

Walk walk walk. This will help with gas pain and help water pass through. My surgeon did an awesome job evacuating all the gas after surgery, so I didn't have any pain (not to mention I was walking a mile or two starting the day after surgery) But it was easier to eat and drink standing up for awhile and walking on the treadmill after eating always helped with digestion.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
