k9nana 50 Posted March 13, 2015 I've been on the "full liquid diet" for about a week now, my surgery was 10 days ago. At first it was pretty good but now I'm so sick of the sweet shakes. Ive tried diluted ones with Water and milk and still can't stand them! My calorie intake was way too low and I was feeling really weak. I need to up my calories. I decided to try the Unjury chicken Soup with Swanson chicken broth, that really hit the spot! It was really savory and satisfying. Since then I have added Tomato Soup to it. Last night I made Tomato soup with non fat milk and added the Unjury 1/2 scoop unflavored protien powder, that was really good too and today had strained cream of chicken soup mixed with non fat milk. I heated it, strained it and then added 1/2 scoop of the protien powder. Remember the 140 degrees rule. And one other find, Bariatric Advantage "Orange Creme" not sickening sweet. I mixed with non fat milk and ice in my Magic Bullet...... so good! If anyone has some recipes to help get through the " full liquids " phase and keep our protien intake up please share. HappySenior 6 Posted March 13, 2015 It's now my 4th day after surgery and my surgeon said I could have 3 tablespoons of baby food three times per day along with the Protein Shakes. Is this too early to introduce baby food in your diet? I had an upper GI done in the hospital to see whether I had any leakage and I passed. No leaks. Maybe that's why he let me have the baby food. The three tablespoons really hit the spot.
Jovie62 135 Posted March 13, 2015 I couldn't have baby food consistency until the 3rd week and my GI test was fine also. It's funny how everyone is so different
k9nana 50 Posted March 14, 2015 No soft food for me yet. I get to have it at 3 weeks.
HappySenior 6 Posted March 17, 2015 Interesting comments about the baby food. I'm seeing my surgeon and nutritionist on the 18th and will bring it up. Meanwhile I'll go easy on the baby food even though I'm tolerating it well.
k9nana 50 Posted March 20, 2015 I went to my support group the other night and found out that being on the full liquid diet I could have smoothys and Soup as long as its strained and has no lumps or seeds. I'm so happy! I had vegetable soup today that I blended to a smooth cream soup. Delish! I really needed the change from Protein Drinks and the Unjury soup. Even though the Unjury is ok I needed a change.

HappySenior 6 Posted March 20, 2015 I saw my nutritionist yesterday and we (four sleeve patients who had surgery around the 9th and 10th) have now graduated to a soft diet, I.e. cottage cheese, Apple sauce, mushed up cooked veggies. No beef pork or lamb. The portions are extremely small but that's all my sleeve stomach can take .Of course, you have to listen to your own body which will tell you whether you're ready for the soft diet or not. I can even have shaved chicken breast from the deli!
