HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO FEEL NORMAL/GOOD AGAIN?

Recommended Posts

I AM 8 WEEKS OUT TODAY. I STILL FEEL KINDA NOT RIGHT. THE ONLY WAY I KNOW HOW TO DESCRIBE IT IS A LITTLE LIGHT HEADED AND LIKE MY LEGS ARE KINDA LIKE Jello. I KNOW MY BLOOD PRESSURE IS LOW/NORMAL FOR THE FIRST TIME AND I'M NOT USED TO THAT BUT I'M JUST WONDERING HOW LONG IT TOOK EVERYONE ELSE TO FEEL NORMAL OR GOOD AS SO MANY PEOPLE ARE SAYING THEY FEEL NOW. I SHOULD ADD I'M EXPERIENCING INSOMNIA ALSO, I WAKE UP AT ABOUT 3 EVERY MORNING AND CAN'T GO BACK TO sleep WHICH MAKES FOR A VERY TIRING DAY.

I would say around 8 weeks is just about when I turned the corner in terms of feeling normal. I was back on solid foods at 6 weeks, which helped, but I was still trying to figure out portions and pacing. I think I still wasn't getting enough calories. So yeah, took a few more weeks to really get into the swing of things.

I am also 8 weeks out and I agree that I'm not back to 100%. I'm definitely tired most of the time but agree that every week gets better. I also agree that our low calorie intake is probably contributing to the "abnormal" feeling.

Can't wait to not feel so lazyish all day!!! ????

I'd say I turned 3 corners. One after the first week, one after about the 4th week and one after about the 4th month, (when I could eat real food again). My formerly high BP was low right after surgery due to dehydration. I added some G2 to my Fluid intake and drank a bit more and it resolved. Also, I was instructed to add high Protein Snacks at my one month follow up. The additional calories\protein made all the difference and helped me reset my metabolism higher for a more manageable long term experience.

I does seem like you are not eating enough. Almonds are a great snack if you are feeling lightheaded

Give it a few weeks. Make sure you get your Water and Vitamins in especially the B-12. Will your Dr allow zzzquil? That's the only sleep med I ever use but it sure works!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
