I eat it all the time, in everything and by itself. It has never given me a problem. Just remember to chew chew chew and chew some more. I think all food is trial and error with everyone , we all have to figure out what works for us. But hamburger is a staple around here too. Good luck!

Maybe I'm the odd one then!

I just had my first fill, I'm still not restricted well anymore (since right after surgery).

I can eat just about anything.. but hamburgers (ground beef, and/or buns) have a hard time with me.

I can eat steak fine, and toast fine.. but hamburgers, one bite makes me feel 'bad' and I just can't eat anymore.

My first real meal was meatloaf. I live on maetballs, meatloaf, and taco meat (made into nachos). Try sneaking ground turkey in for a heathy option. I mix beef and turkey 50/50 and my family can't tell the diff. ~Mandy

Im all about turkey meat now. Before i would have never tried it,

We also ate lots of hambuger, thats all my dh will eat. Now he is rather upset with my cooking, he rufuses to eat turkey. You really cant tell the differ. when you make it with taco mix or red suace. They also have wolf brand tykey cillie and you CANNOT tell a differ. So much lees fat and cals.

Just make sure the turkey you are using is all white meat, the dark has almost as much fat as beef. I do a mix 50/50 turkey and lean beef. Like Stacy said as long as there is a sauce you can't tell the diff. We have also switched to turkey sausage and bacon. ~Mandy

You gotta experiment and find what works for you.

My personal choice was to give up red meat all together.

I have had none in two years and three months now, and don't

miss it at all. I did for a while, but feel soooooo much better now.

2 years, 3 months post op

220 pounds lost! (430 starting weight, and 210 now)

At my three times adjusted personal goal!

Starting BMI of 54, and 23 now.

Life is good!

That sucks about them not liking turkey, I love it!

Try some turkey sausages, they taste better than pork ones(sooo tender)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
