Recommended Posts

I hope you are doing well and are making progress towards your health and weight loss surgery goals.

I am posting today to share some exciting news…BariatricPal is about to welcome its quarter-millionth member! That’s a lot of members. A quarter million or 250,000 is the equivalent of one new member per second for three straight days! If you stretched us out head to toe, we’d cover the length of 260 miles!

Some Weighty Accomplishments

Together, we have:

  • Made almost 4 million posts.
  • Had over 6,000 members online at the same time.

  • Lost nearly 3 million pounds.

Hitting these numbers is no small feat. I thank each and every one of you who has helped make this happen. Thank you for your membership, for your participation on the boards, and for spreading the word about BariatricPal.

Join the Drive!

It is because of members like you that BariatricPal can provide the support it does. Now, I am asking for your help in pushing towards our 250,000th member! If you can, spread the word on Facebook, Twitter, from your blog, and in any other way you can. You’ll be strengthening our community as you do!

Because of you, we continue to be the world’s leading online weight loss surgery support network. And, because of you, we can continue to grow to even better serve the bariatric surgery community.

I can’t wait to welcome member number 250,000! I am eager to see how you can help BariatricPal to hit that number sooner by helping in our member drive – starting now! Thank you for all that you do, and take care.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
