Hi Everyone! So I've received some really good advice from these forums. I'd like to know what things you've found really helped you out once you got out of the hospital.

So far I have:

Anyone else have any other recommendations of things that will help post surgery?

In terms of physical mobility after the surgery, you should be fine. I was up and down out of bed on my own and walking while still in the clinic. You should be able to go shopping for the things you need a couple of days post-op, so I would advise against doing to much "stocking up" in preparation. I bought a lot of things I ended up never using.

The one thing that I bought post-op that I found super handy was a pack of little 2-ounce storage containers. They were perfect for measuring my soft/pureed food into and then storing in the fridge.

sugar free Jell-O, and pudding, already made and portioned out. I had Unjury chicken Soup powder, it tastes like top ramen broth, Unjury chocolate, which works amazing when you are on Protein, you can put it in your pudding :) I also had Isopure (grape and Lemon Black Tea) to mix with Crystal Light. shaker bottles, one for sweet, one for the chicken soup protein. 2 Water bottles, one for water, one for Isopure. I use half a bottle of isopure with 10-12 oz of G2, Powerade zeo, or crystal light. Sugar free popsicles are good too. Those were my life savers. Oh, and get small bowls, plates, and toddler spoons.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
