Stepped on the scales this morning and I'm up 2 lbs. I know we shouldn't weigh every day but I can't stop.

I am officially 2 weeks post op yesterday. I am barely eating / drinking 700 calories a day. So what gives?? I'm going to blame it on Mother Nature and not put much thought into it. I am going to the gym today for the first time. Just going to do light cardio no weights, but maybe that will help those 2 lbs to go away again.

Hi Starbuckscoffeegal,

You are about a month or so ahead of me in this process, but I realized we have the same surgeon. I have my pre op classes next week and meet with Dr. Bautista the following week. My surgery is set for April 9th. Any suggestions or tips?

Wishing you the best of luck in your weight loss journey and hoping those two pounds are gone tomorrow ????

Oh that is so cool! Dr Bautista is phenomenal! So is his nurse practitioner Jeanine Moss! They take their time with you and address all of your concerns. I saw Dr Bautista every day I was in the hospital and he did a great job.

Tips- just push through the liver shrinking diet. It sucks, there is nothing to sugar coat that. Don't take too much to the hospital except essentials, you will be resting a lot when they aren't poking you. Mary is an awesome nurse so I hope you get her one of your nights. Don't try and be a hero take your pain meds. Dr Bautista does not do pain pumps so the nurses will do their best to make you comfortable but getting up the first few times is rough.

When you go down for your upper GI be prepared to have to get up on that table by yourself I didn't have any family with me but I wish I had asked a nurse or an aide to help me down there. The tech I had was horrible and getting up and down from that table was not fun and in fact I complained about how unaccomadating they were. Not to scare you, but see if someone can help you. Plus I sat in that hallway for almost 30 minutes waiting for someone to take me back to my room.

What side of town are you on?

I had my surgery on April 23rd at 7:30am. Of course my friend came on the 22nd which sucked since you wear a tampon. I was out of surgery around 1pm. I have been in ICU since Thursday afternoon. My doctor said I will be in here until Monday, Tuesday the latest. Monday, he is going to do the stomach test to see if everything is working properly. I won't have anything to drink or eat until Monday.

Prepost weight 274

14 days of liquid diet, cheated twice

Day of surgery 258.4

I am not sure how much I weigh now and my body is swollen from the gas that they fill your tummy before surgery and the fluids that are going into me 24/7.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
