I had my VSG June 2013. My highest recorded weight was 245 lbs. Height: 4,11"

I'm pleased with my progress so far. I've been maintaining my weight for nearly a year now. I've adopted a lifestyle that I never thought I would. I eat clean & I'm in love with the gym. I workout most days of the week- focusing on weight training. Although I've seen myself pack on a nice bit of muscle, I'm not where I want to be. I'm very interested in hiring a coach to help with my diet plan & training routine. I'm a little nervous about that bc I'll have to explain this surgery to him. I know a lot of people in the fitness industry have a very negative view of ppl who've had wls (such a shame). Anyway, I'm just struggling to be the best physical version on myself.

Skin? ... Most of that little belly you see below is skin. I just kind of tuck it away. I'm wanting a Tummy Tuck so bad! I just wish it were out the way! lol. I have to wear compressions when exercising. I'm looking forward to when I don't have to... And maybe I can even see a little muscle definition? (Also some looseness under my arms & inner thighs)

If anyone wants to follow on IG (it's mostly gym selfies & food pics), tell me your name so I can follow back! I am MISTY_MARIE87

Great progress!

If a personal trainer judges you or frowns upon your choice to have had WLS, then they don't get to be your trainer. You do have to tell them that you've had it because they're going to make nutritional recommendations that won't line up with your doctor's advice because they don't know any better.

Don't feel like they will judge you, I told my trainer about my upcoming WLS and she was nothing but excited for me and while I'm recovering will be building me a strength training program to focus on maintaining and building muscle and helping me keep things as tight as possible. That's what a good PT does.

I hope you find one! I think it's super helpful; she knows about 1000 exercises, and I know maybe 20. It's completely changed the way I treat the gym.

I am also on Instagram. @Blashlee

My surgery is scheduled for April 7th and I am also worried about loose skin, but I know I will be so much more healthy. Where do you get the compressions from to hold your tummy?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
