I'm planning on having WLS, and it is frowned upon in my profession. So I won't be telling anyone at work... BUT what should I say when I'm asked what have I done for my WL?

Just curious as to what your profession is? That seems crappy that anyone would look down on being healthy. It's nobodies business just say you worked hard which will be the truth!

I'm in the Military. They believe I won't be able to eat proper if I were deploy, so it is authorized.

Isn't authorized. Sorry

It's so u fair, Cuz there is so much more work to be done after you get the surgery to maintain a goal weight. I think some will understand and those that don't know the procedure and what it is will never respect the process.

That seems kind of strange. When I was in the military 45 years ago, it was all about getting the body into peak performance. It seems that is what you are trying to do.

That seems pretty unfair. They should be encouraging it since it is for help and would help you do physical things better.

I really don't think you have thought this through. Being deceptive about this and having surgery without command consent could easily get you discharged. I just cannot imagine how you are going to hide it. The military is not a normal job...PT requirements, physicals, and the overall demand on an individual will be difficult to comply with early on. You will have scars to explain. You will be very very very tired for months. Are you paying for it yourself? I fully understand wanting the surgery so bad but I think you need to make sure you are in a position to handle a discharge.

@ Crosby, either way I could be discharged. I've almost tried everything besides Crack and the weight isn't going anywhere. So if I don't do this, I will get discharged for failure to meet Height and Weight.

If I go through with the WLS, then I just have to pray no one finds out so I can keep my job and have better health.

So again, if I do or don't go through with it I can be discharged.

I have not told anyone t my job because it is non of their business, in regards to what you tell people I would tell them the truth, hard work, watching watch you eat, exercise, and limiting your sugar intake.

I have not told any of my friends as of yet, My surgery is on 3/16/15 I'm scared of the judgement. It's don't wanna deal with, but in the same vain I feel it's none of ur darn business either. Since its "frowned" upon by a large community I just kept it to myself thus far. But I do plan on telling my closest friends.

If I was you and I would go on 30 days leave and have the surgery like the first or second day of leave...Then once I returned I would invest in Protein shakes/liquids.....Now if you get deployed and have to eat mre's...Then that is something you have to deal with.....because it may be months before you can eat any of that mess....You can always drink Water and protien and you will live until you can get back to a regular diet....

You medical needs should be the most important thing....If I was a person that could be deployed I would not do the surgery...but If i was someone that was just stationed overseas or doing service...I would do it and keep it to myself...You only need about 6 months before you can get normal foods....If your weight is causing you trouble...The surgery might be more important....Also remember ...You will go thru pain with or without the surgery...The pain of gettting in shape does not change....I am down 100 pounds and I still feel the pain of exercise....It is not as bad as before but it is still painful....I was in the military....I was fat but I just worked out...I would not have wanted to have the surgery in the service unless I was about to retire.....

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
