I just started to consider this surgery as a way to regain some of my health. My insurance will cover it - yea! But one of the guidelines makes no sense - the wording. Perhaps someone else can clarify for me?

It says that I have to complete a 6 month supervised diet prior to the surgery with monthly visits/weigh ins at my drs for 12 Months prior to surgery.

Surely that is a mistake? How on earth can one do a six month diet and 12 monthly Weigh ins?

I haven't called yet to clarify but thought I'd see of anyone else had this?

My understanding is that in past year(12 months) you had six consecutive months supervised diet.

When I talked to the girl at the insurance company she said it had to be six months in the last two years but didn't have to be consecutive. It's the weirdest thing.

Thanks. This forum is awesome btw.

Within a year of submitting approval for surgery you have to have 6 months of documented weight loss/nutritional counseling. Sometimes the 6 months need to be consecutive. Check on that.
