Djmohr 6,965 Posted March 10, 2015 Try taking some airborne, it might help keep the worst of it away. So sorry this happened but you definately don't want to have major surgery when you have a cold especially if it effects your respitory system like most colds do. Hang in there and let's hope it goes away fast!
goodnuff 239 Posted March 10, 2015 Same issue here. Woke up with a productive cough the last two days. Normally I'd push the Airborne but I was told to not even take my daily Vitamin this last week before surgery so I'm not sure if I can do my norm. Guess we both need to rest and push fluids and hope like heck we don't get more sick. Good luck.
Crosby 303 Posted March 10, 2015 I had surgery with a cold. I let the nurses at the hospital and surgeons office know 3 and 4 days before and they said as long as no fever I should be fine. On surgery day They made sure my lungs were okay and no fever. The cough made the first two days much more difficult but I survived.
Shan5311 36 Posted March 10, 2015 Thanks everyone!! Going to keep up with fluids and rest as much as I can with a toddler!! I have 6 days to get over this- so far not too bad, just a mild sore throat and tired. I always have a cough but it's not productive. Hopefully things will work out !!! laneydasilva 34 Posted March 20, 2015 How are you doing ?
Shan5311 36 Posted March 20, 2015 Surgery went great!! Was very nauseous for the first 30 minutes or so in Recovery Room but that went away quickly with meds. The hardest part about the whole thing was being NPO until Tuesday night- nothing at all by mouth!! I have never been so thirsty in my life!!! Ian was at a minimal. Walked the halls several times a day while in the hospital- Dr requires walking at least every 4 hours while awake! Unfortunately my blood sugars have been really high since surgery. The surgeon took me off my pump in pre-op and didn't want it back on while in the hospital. So now that I'm back home, working with my Diabetic Educator to lower my sugars. Other than that, I'm feeling great!!! How's everyone else doing ?
