I'm 5 weeks out and having nausea issues. I haven't been able to eat anything at all yet today as the smell makes me want to vomit. I start gagging at the slightest thing. I've been drinking Water this morning but even that isn't settling very well. Has anyone experienced this? If so any tips would be appreciated. My doctor prescribed Phenergan (spelling) post surgery with refills but it makes me sleepy so I can't take it since I'm at work. I feel awful.

You should probably call your DR if you haven't already and let them know what's going on. food not so worried about but Fluid defiantly concerning.

I agree that you should call your doctor or surgeon.

I do my Protein Shake and Vitamins right before I go to bed. This worked for me.

The nausea subsided enough to where I got my Water in for the day. I will definitely call if I have another day like today. I need to make an appointment anyway. My last one was cancelled due to weather. Thanks for the responses.

I suffer pretty bad from nausea and am 5 weeks post op. My doctor prescribed anti nausea Patches and I have returned to normal! Phenergan and Zofran did nothing for me!

Hot ginger tea worked well for me. It also helped with reflux.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
