Well, it took almost 50 pounds post-op and almost 75 pounds total, but I just got my first comment from a coworker on my weight loss. Someone who just got back from a two week vacation just commented told me "you're melting" and said that my pants might end up on the floor while I'm walking down the hallway soon.

I wonder if being away for a couple of weeks and then coming back caused her to see me with fresh eyes for the first time in a while. My weight loss has been pretty slow and gradual (1 to 1.5 pounds most weeks), so I don't think the people that see me every day have really noticed. I have started running in the past 4 weeks and she was gone for 2 of those, so maybe the running is helping to shift things around an make me look a bit "leaner" even though I've only actually lost maybe 2.5 pounds since the last time I saw her?

I don't know why...but I'd take it :)

I am a librarian, so my coworkers see me when they periodically need something. I hear, "every time I see you, you're shrinking!" a lot. But most recently I hear, "When are you going to stop?" This recent question throws me because I'm 20 pounds from the goal of having a healthy BMI...

I'm 10 months out and I'm in shock everyday when my coworkers tell me that I'm melting away, shrinking, they call me Skinny Minnie! GASP! It's so surreal to hear this. I honestly don't see it, I mean, I know 75 lbs is a lot but I don't see the extreme of it so those comments shock me but it does feel nice... Keep it up (or should I say down lol) peeps, this is not the easy way out by no means but it's so worth it, right? I love it! Good Luck to us all....

My brother in law told me I was skin and bones (not true) I have heard skinny mini, long and lean, and your wasting way. What does that supposed to mean anyway? The comments don't bother me. I am 5'9 and 146 pounds. I feel great. Yesterday at the Buckle I was trying on jeans. The sales girl bright me a 27 waist. Lol. I said nope wrong size! She says Really?? I asked her how much my husband gave her to bring me those jeans. Lol

ProjectMe: I honestly think most folks haven't the slightest notion of what a healthy BMI actually looks like.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
