Cash patient needs help!

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am new here, and have just recently begun seriously considering the procedure. I'm in southern California and unfortunately, my HMO will only cover bypass. This is something that scares the you know what out of me and there are so many reasons LapBand dxoes not. My problem is this... I was told $18,800for a one-hour outpatient procedure in Orange County... OMG! Really? Is there anyone out there in any part of California that does this for a lesser cost? I'm totally willing to travel... I need help, guys. Thanks!

Why not travel. And come to HOuston Texas and use Dr. Hadar Spivakif you need his info PM me and I will give it you. I 12,900 and he is one of the first dotors to have ever performed Lapband before it became so popular and he was also a part of FDA approval study for use of the Lapband in the USA.

My doctor was Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver. $9950 for the procedure. He is a very experienced surgeon with quite a few people on this forum who are his patients. His web address is in my signature.

I also think the Mexican option may be a good one for you, especially since you are in California. From where you are you could actually return to Mexico for aftercare if you needed to.

Whatever you do, don't forget to make arrangements for your aftercare BEFORE you have the surgery. This is important. Make sure you know who you are going to go to for aftercare before you have the surgery.

There are definitely options under $18,000.

Hi there...

Hubby and a friend are having surgery in Tijuana Mexico with Dr. Ariel Ortiz. It's $8500.00 and that includes all pre-op testing and hotel stay. We're in the O.C., so the drive isn't bad and we'll be going there for after care and fills. From where your're at, it's even closer. Check out their website. I would suggest calling for an appt so you can meet Dr. Ortiz and get a tour of their facility. Whatever you choose...good luck to you!

Take Care,

Lili

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
