I LOVED coffee like you wouldn't believe, but now.....my stomach turns every time I drink it. Iced coffee is fine...hot coffee, NO MORE! :( anyone else experience this??

I've never had troubles with "warm" coffee, I've never liked it hot, the way my mom liked it... boiling hot. I've got a guy at work that will pour a steaming cup of coffee and then stick it in the microwave for 30 more seconds! :o

But if you are still in the 1st 6 months post-op, there are going to be many little things like this that will upset your sleeve. Things will return to normal a little at a time.

My 1st 2 weeks, I could not eat more than a teaspoon of food per hour. AT 30 days, I was mainly living off Cream of Mushroom Soup. At 6 months, I was still having issues trying to eat any vegetable other than Beans, lentils and squash. At 1 year, I could eat anything I wanted with very little difficulty.

Yes, I'm 7 weeks post. I have no problem whatsoever with anything except coffee. Hopefully that will change. :)

@@boosh10 , I'm 5 months out yesterday & although I used to start my am with hot coffee-2 cups at least (x 25 years), I still have no taste for it- @ALL! Weird. I have a cup of hot Decaf tea with milk(live in the northeast) to start & my am shake with trader Joes coffee concentrate- 3oz with Protein Powder, fruit ( us banana or frozen berries), 6 oz unsweetened vanilla almond milk & sugar free Torani Syrup. I wonder if that will change after next month?

Do you add cream or milk to your coffee? I was allowed coffee again starting at 30 days post-op, but was instructed to put a lot of cream or milk in it to help tone it down. Now that I'm 6 months out, I have no issues at all with coffee and have cut back to my normal amount of soy milk in it.

I used milk. Skim plus. I was thinking that maybe its the warm milk that's upsetting my tummy

i could not live with out coffee..... i love it hot or cold. Growing up in the south, we start drinking coffee as babies.. no joke. But we call it "coffee milk".... of course it 3/4 milk and 1/4 coffee... but i started everyday with it. My grandma use to make our coffee milk, toast with Peanut Butter... and send us off too school.... True story

I fine drinking me helps me ... i know it sounds crazy.. but i feel it calms my stomach.

What kind of coffee are you drinking? Home brewed or something like Starbucks?

I grew up in Ohio, so definitely not the south, but I was drinking coffee for as long as I can remember. I remember ordering it at a restaurant once when I was about 6 and the waitress looked at my parents like "WTF??!?!" My dad literally put Pepsi in our bottles when we were babies, so I was hooked on caffeine from a VERY early age.

BTW, my parents are the best parents in the world, contrary to what this post might imply. ;)

Omg.... My mom did the same thing. Pop. In our bottles.

My grandkids love coffee. They sleep over all the time and they love coffee

Wow, not judging on the coffee. My granddaughter now age two has to have a cup of tea every night before bed. Not that Decaf crap, real tea with cream. It's thanks to her great-grandmother who started me in womb needing tea and passing it on. We do have it that she not allowed to have sugar in it...that is unless her "Nanie" makes it...driving my daughter and myself crazy.

I'm 13 days post op and have only had 1-2 cups of hot tea with stevia and whole milk, it's an adjustment. Couple sips of coffee didn't bother me...here's hoping????????????

Has anyone else tried Click coffee drink with Protein? I bought some off Amazon and I'm thrilled with it. The taste is divine and the fact it has 15 grams of protein in HOT coffee, yummy.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
