Give up already? How are you going to get through this if you give up already? This is a LIFELONG endeavor, not just a quick-fix. You will always have highs and lows, loss and re-gain - just read through some of these posts, where virtually EVERYONE has loss and regain. I just regained a pound, but I know it will go away in time. Because I'm doing what I am supposed to do. Following the rules. Our bodies have gone through something that is not natural, and they will fight this unnatural behavior, it's called survival. We are putting the body through starvation, the only way to put it, and it will fight back. It's one of the reasons we lose our hair, the starvation tells the body to focus nutrients where it is most critically needed, the organs, so that's where the nutrients are sent. Thus Hair loss. How will you be when and if you lose hair? Time to rally-up the troops and get your mind set for the adventure you decided to go on when you had this surgery! No going back, now! We're here for you!

Give up after a week?!? Please just relax. Before having the surgery, I read up on stalls from the board so I was expecting it. A week out of surgery I too hit my first stall. I didn't even sweat it. Because I knew it would pass. After five days of weighing the same weight the scale finally moved. Please just relax and follow your eating program.

Mindset and realistic expectations are so important to being successful on this journey. Whenever I see posts like this I truly wonder if the problem is Drs setting unrealistic goals for their patients, if the problem is patients not learning enough about their paricular procedure BEFORE surgery, or if folks must compare themselves with others to feel some type of way about their own weight loss. Whatever it is...Its got to be mentally exhausting.

Surgery date Feb 25th down 8 pounds at one week post op. I have not lost anything since. It actually fluctuate one or two pounds. I'm wondering if this is normal or considered a stall.

I say stop weighing yourself and just follow the plan. I refuse to be a slave to a scale. If your following the plan you'll get where you need to be. I will weigh once a month at the doctor ofc so I'm on the same scale every time. Measure your self if you must do something. You body changes will be visible there sometimes more than on a scale..

same date, and 11 days later I actually gained 1 lb. I'm sure it's normal. I'm going to increase my calorie intake and start exercising this week. I'm sure that will trigger more loss

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
