I'm thinking about adding a new chat room. I'd like get an idea how often it will be used. Please respond to the poll I've posted.

I would love to have a scheduled weekly chat session. I have used it a couple of times on the old forum and we all had a blast in there talking.

I like the idea of a chat room but I honestly don't think I'd ever use it. Chatting online is frustrating for me, and in any event I'm never sure I'll be available.

So while I'm all for it, I can't be counted on as a potential user.

Alex there was 6 of us and that was small only becasue I posted that I was going to bei n the chat room if anyone wanted to join me so those who were online at the time I posted it showed up...but I know that if I or anyone posted a scheduled weekly chat time in advance..people would come. Most of the Yahoo boards post a weekly scheduled chat time for example every Sunday night at 7:00pm. and they are full. I will be more then happy to post a weekly chat time if no one else wants to.

If there was a chat room at our disposal I'de use it a few times a week. If the chat room is something that has to be scheduled then I'de use it once a week.

I would love a weekly scheduled chat time. I join one on another board once in a while, but would make a point to use it on this board. Thanks for asking, Alex. :D

Ok, chat is here ;-)

Just click on "Chat" which is a link in the center of the top navigation bar.

Mods if you'd like you can make sticky posts of scheduled chats.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
