MamaTo3inNH 100 Posted March 9, 2015 Are these ok, once you get the all clear from your surgeon? I got two today that had 15grams of Protein and 300 (ish) calories! I am having trouble getting my protein in (still need to find a good protein supplement - I keep losing my taste for them) and this seems like a perfect choice. ~RNY 1.19.
ProjectMe 909 Posted March 9, 2015 Interestingly, frozen meals aren't even mentioned in my PostOp plan. We can eat so little that I'd rather eat something high Protein, nutritious & tasty tbh. I wouldn't be getting my money's worth since I don't eat potatoes, rice, Pasta, or white flour...I would just pick out the meat and maybe a few veggies then leave the rest. alwaysvegas 702 Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) You're MUCH better off preparing your own meals with clean fresh Proteins and vegetables. Frozen meals are processed and loaded with carbs, salt, and preservatives. Rather than frozen meals, you'd get much better Protein from baked chicken breast, baked fish, cottage cheese, or turkey. MamaTo3inNH 100 Posted March 9, 2015 The thing is meats still make me gag. No matter how much sauce I slather them up in and how small the bites are. I don't do eggs. I'm kind of cottage cheesed out, and yogurts are making me gag (the sweetness) and the plain ones are bitter im SO LOST for foods to get my Protein in. That's why I got these. One of them is lean cuisine four cheese rigatoni. No meat in it. 15g Protein. I used to love chicken breast pre-op... I'd eat it 5-6 nites a week. I NEVER dreamed I would have a problem post op Hopefully it will pass, because I'm seriously running out of ideas. Today for lunch and dinner I had 4 slices of fresh mozzarella (8 grams of protein each meal) drizzled with vinegarette and three triscuts crackers. Thankfully I'm a creature of habit and CAN stick to one or two things that I really like. But my taste buds are changing by the day and im stressing out about it. I have a half case of Premier Protein premixed and the mere smell of it makes me gag now. Sorry I'm totally ranting. I just didn't think it would be so hard for me to get my protein in, kwim? MamaTo3inNH 100 Posted March 9, 2015 Ps - no frozen meals mentioned in my post op either... I just met with NUT and got the all clear for all foods.
Terribj 208 Posted March 9, 2015 I wouldn't recommend eating prepackaged foods. Look at the sugar and sodium content, the sugar is really the key. Fresh veggies and baked chicken are my go to's. I cook a breast of chicken and it lasts for at least 2 days. Best of luck.

ProjectMe 909 Posted March 9, 2015 Have you tried the recipes on the blog World According to Eggface? She has recipes for every Bariatric stage. Whenever I get bored I try something new. The recipes make a lot of portions, so I freeze them and I'm good for weeks.

MamaTo3inNH 100 Posted March 9, 2015 Yeah see mine never gave me any #s except for guidelines for choosing Protein supplements. Oh. I also bought Protein Bars. 20g Protein per bar. Those are tolerable tasting, I limit myself to one per day for Breakfast. Maybe I should get some plain powder and add it to my coffee.
ProjectMe 909 Posted March 9, 2015 Unjury makes an unflavored Protein that I add to just about everything...soups, turkey chili, fat free chili, hummus, cottage cheese, yogurt, Apple sauce, etc.
MamaTo3inNH 100 Posted March 9, 2015 Thanks!! I really thought I would be A-OK post op... I can literally eat the same thing for months and months on end... If I can just tolerate chicken I would be good to go
ProjectMe 909 Posted March 9, 2015 Have you tried tuna or another white fish? Seems to work better for me...I can only eat an ounce or two of chicken.< /p>
