Headache is still with me. Hospital today

Recommended Posts

Went back to the hospital today they gave me a cat scan thankfully didn't find anything but I still have a Migraine like headache. They gave me dilaudid and torradol and benadryl. I can not take this headache anymore. The drugs lessened the pain but it never goes away and comes back worth a vengeance. I wish I could figure this out

I am so sorry for your pain, I sure hope you feel better soon. I know this sounds strange, but have you tried putting cold cucumber slices on your eyes? The cooling sensation may ease your discomfort. I like using natural sources as much as I can, whenever I can, and this does ease my headaches, but I don't have Migraines. I will keep you in my prayers. God Bless...

Are you getting all of your fluids in? A lot of headaches can be caused by dehydration. Immidiately after surgery plain Water didn't sit well with me. (Very common.) I was using flavor packets to help. The aspartame in them was causing me horrible headaches. Also if you're still on pain meds some can cause rebound headaches. Try an ice pack to your forehead or heat on your neck/shoulders. The anesthesia can also cause a terrible headache.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Hit the Starbucks and hit it hard. I know caffeine can make us hungry, but it can also contract those blood vessels in your head causing the headaches. See if you can tolerate some hardcore coffee/espresso (or no doze) and see if it helps. When you're over the headaches, back off the caffeine and resume normal bariatric diet. We used to put our Migraine patients on caffeine drips in the ER.

Please everyone don't kill me for suggesting something outside the program, but I think this might help.

If you put your hands and feet in a hot tub and an ice pack on your neck/back of your head that can help a lot with Migraines. It redirects blood flow which is what causes the pressure.

It may have been triggered by the sugar free ingredients...ie aspartame. I'm so glad the imitrex helped! I'm heading to the hospital in a few hoyrs for surgery and I know my head is killing, but I'm hungry, scared, nervous, frightened, afraid....lol

ThinniMinnie, how did you manage avoiding the aspartame? This is a big worry for me. I avoid it at all costs because it gives me Migraines.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
