mrscherry2010 14 Posted March 9, 2015 What has been (or what was) people's reaction when you told them you were having WLS? I have had mostly positive reaction so far. I've had a couple people give me a odd look then say congrats but I know they don't mean it! But I don't let the negative Nelly's get to me
Crosby 303 Posted March 9, 2015 Everyone that has said anything has been very positive. I decided about a week before surgery to tell everyone that was remotely close to me.
highdesertblue 70 Posted March 9, 2015 I've had mostly positive reactions. i have a big family, and a big church family, so I decided to tell everyone in a Facebook post. I was really afraid to do it, but I've had so much positive support, I am kind of surprised! I knew everyone would wonder how and why I was losing weight. Now I have so many people telling me they are supporting me and praying for me, that I am glad I did it. At the end of my FB post, I did say that I didn't have room in my life for haters, and that i was asking for love and support. i wouldn't have told everyone a few years ago, but the older I get, the more that i am not concerned about what other people think. I know that many people are uncomfortable about telling people about the WLS, and I totally respect that. I just wanted to share my success with sharing the information. MSWMike 22 Posted April 21, 2015 Everyone who I have told has been positive about it. Yes it's drastic, but it's needed. I'm glad to know that there are people who can be positive about it....as I think I can count on them to be supportive after surgery!
