Bruce Peter 39 Posted March 8, 2015 Hi guys, I'm 11 days post surgery and I find that I can eat quite a bit more than I thought I'd be able to. I just started drinking some vegetable Soup today and I can put down at least 1.5 cups at one sitting. Is this too much? I am getting adequate Protein amounts from shakes and greek yogurt, but I'm concerned that I'm able to eat food at a pretty good clip. Today I have had the following: Protein shake for Breakfast Protein Shake for lunch since then at least three bowls (about 1 cup) of home made vege soup 3/4 cup of greek yogurt with some canned fruit cocktail (no sugar added) I'm still hungry and I have room for more. What do you guys think?
Elode 8,093 Posted March 8, 2015 @@Bruce Peter Is that liquid Soup or full of vegetables? Remember just because you can eat it doesn't mean you should. It doesn't sound like your eating anything "bad" your post op I'd definitely different than mine though. I was still on thickened liquids at that time and couldn't have fruit. If your surgeon says it's ok then you should be alright. Follow your plan.
Bruce Peter 39 Posted March 8, 2015 carrots, kale and celery. All very soft and yes, I'm eating them.
CanyonBaby 1,852 Posted March 9, 2015 Remember, head hunger is now playing a serious role in your life. If you can get a good grip on it now, in your newly-sleeved days, it'll help later on down the road. And acid will play a role in your feeling "hungry", too. I know with my sleeve, if I mentally "feel" how heavy my sleeve feels, I can tell if it is full or not. Also, are you feeling the top of the sleeve - do you sense it being topped-off? I definitely can feel that, especially if too much has gone in. A suggestion, if you will, would be to slow down even slower than you are eating now, so you can maybe sense that fullness a little better. Be careful for the chunks of veggies and fruit, as Elode said. You don't want to chance something getting in those staples and causing havoc. Good luck to you on your new journey! chunkyloverlovesyou 197 Posted March 9, 2015 Nah don't be worried, liquids go in and promptly go out of your puch. You are just feeling up your intestines, I was worried too that I could drink all day long without a problem, mon top of that- I was starving. Wait till get to the solids, that's when you get to experience the joy of pressure and puking
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted March 9, 2015 How much Water have you had? What are your nutritionist orders on what and how much you should be eating? You really should be following those orders and when you think you are hungry in between, drink Water or fluids.
Bruce Peter 39 Posted March 9, 2015 drinking plenty of Water, probably 60 oz. Just a hungry day, I guess. Up until today I have been on pure liquids. Perhaps it is head hunger Thanks everyone
ready2getgoing 41 Posted March 12, 2015 At 11 days your still in the honeymoon period of you new stomach and diet. Liquids are not stretching your new stomach much yet - if at all. They are flowing right though. As you progress to more solids and eventually back to regular food you're going to feel the restriction more and more. As mentioned in a previous post - just because you can eat - doesn't mean you should. At this point it is important to keep track of what you're eating and follow the rules as closely as you can - soon they'll become the way you think about eating and become the norm without you having to think about them. Bigboy76 102 Posted March 29, 2015 Is just echo the comments on drink plenty of Water and get your Protein in. Don't worry too much about eating too much! I felt the same way and honestly it changes so much from day to day for me. Some days I can eat something and be stuffed!! Eat the same thing the next day and still be hungry. Reality...I've still lost weight! Just keep doing what you're doing and remember you can never get enough protein. It does help control the hunger.
