Hi All. I was sleeved on 2/23 and I am allowed to begin soft foods today. I have eaten about 2 bites of a banana and it didn't go well. It felt like it got stuck half way down and I could feel it in my chest for a while. Any tips on transitioning for full liquids to soft foods?

stick with Protein for now, and chew the heck out of it. I think bananas are too heavy. try cottage cheese, greek yogurt, soft veggies, etc

I've been sipping Soups and such. Today my wife made some vegetable Soup with carrots, celery and kale. It went down with no problems

Scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, and other soft cheeses (Google Shelly's Baked Ricotta!). I don't think I was allowed fruit that soon out from surgery. I was supposed to be getting Protein protein protein.

I tried scrambled eggs. I got about two bites in and now I feel completely nauseous. Is this normal? I did fine all last week with cream Soups and greek yogurt but today everything has made me sick to my stomach.

I've noticed that every time I tried something new- I had trouble eating it the first time and that it gets easier the more I eat it

I'm moving to full protein/mushy phase next week. When everyone says they are having Soup, what kind? Are you eating the food in the soup? So far I am only drinking the broth.

And would I be able to have hummus during this phase?

vegetable Soup, home made. Carrots, celery, lake and some asparagus. I'm eating all of them. Might try some lentil or bean soup next

I had Clam Chowder, no problem eating it and a crab bisque. Also vegetable Soup and lentil soup. If your still hungry, have some Jello or sugar free Popsicles. I had fudgesicles.

I was allowed strained cream Soups in my full liquid stage. I was instructed to strain out any chunks, but I ate pretty much every cream soup my grocery store sold! The variety kept me sane.

As for hummus, I was able to eat that during my soft food/puree stage.

Thanks this sounds like my diet. I will stick with Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and cream soup next week.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
