New here with some questions please... I'm really angry.

Recommended Posts

So I went back to work 3 days ago. Pretty tired by the end of my shifts but doable. It's taken some strategies to pack for dinner and shakes etc. I am officially 2 weeks post-op. Woke up this morning and I am UP! 2 pounds! Seriously WTF? I had RNY and I am 1 month out from starting the Optifast to 2 weeks post-op and I have only lost about 17 pounds! I don't feel constipated but the last BM was 5 days ago. What am I doing wrong? Am I being impatient? I see so many people saying the weight literally falls off of them but I am not seeing it. Is it possible that I have advanced my diet too quickly? I had a really bad time finding a Protein Powder that didn't make me feel sick. I am now using unflavoured in a combo of milk and yogurt. I am also eating canned tuna in Water about 1.5oz with 1/4 cup cottage cheese. I can also eat chicken (same amount as fish) I'm not struggling with hunger at all. Any suggestions? I'm so angry I could scream! Thanks Chris

I think it is an impatience issue. Yea the weight does fall off for periods but it stalls too. You also had a lower starting weight too so17 pounds in a month is darn good.

Put the scale away and focus on nutrition and moving. The weight will come off, I promise.

I'm about 6 1/2 weeks out and though I initially lost as I had expected, 30 pounds in 5 weeks. I have stalled for the last 1 1/2 - 2 weeks even though I am following the plan to the T. It's so frustrating, but eventually the weight will start moving again, it has to. I think the biggest struggle for me is to keep the faith and stick to the plan even though I am not seeing results as fast as I would like. I think you've been given some really great advice and it's helped me too. Just know you are not alone.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
