Teresa,

I have never learned to crochet from a pattern, my Mom just taught me several ways to do an afgan. If you decide to make some and sell one, I would be really interested.

Okay, okay, I will make whoever wants one a hat. The yarn is about $4-5 and its probably only a few dollars to ship one. I'll go back thru and find the colors everyone wants and start some more. Just think, this will be good for MY weight loss. I found last year when I made about 20 of them for christmas gifts I hardly had any chance to snack. My fingers were just too busy. You all crack me up though!!! LOL. Teresa

Really, really your going to make them? Good thing I didn't make it to the store yet. I would love one too. Black would be awesome for me too. Let me know how much you need and I will send it. Maybe when I get yours and I can look at it I will give it a try and make them for the family.

You are a dear,

Kathy

Thanks, Teresa! I was going to look for a crochet pattern for Christmas. This is PERFECT! :Bunny I can't wait to get started.

Also glad you like your 6th grade experience. I loved that age. I am a high school teacher (usually 8th grade, but taking a long leave right now) and it's nice to hear there are enthusiastic new people joining the ranks. :D

P.S. Penni! You look so cute in that hat! :D

I'll reserve a black one too! Maybe you can buy that yarn in bulk (cheaper) if you do all of them in the same color. You and Darcy are so creative!! You w/ your darling hats and she w/ her quilt. Do you really have the time to make hats? I will be so proud of one!

Hi all, its no problem making the hats. I am going to make them all on the large side unless anyone has a particularly small head.

Becky do you have a Master's to teach? I just finished my bachelors and am so sick of school I really wish I could avoid getting my masters right now, but in Oregon it seems most school districts only hire people with a masters.

Anyway hope you all have a good sunday and I'll get started on the hats this evening. Don't worry about paying anything till you get them. Teresa

In California there is a fifth year after the bachelor's to get a credential. It's a very heavy program of classes and observation with at least a half year of student teaching at least one class. I was fortunate to have a master teacher who let me teach two classes for the full year. She let me totally take over the classes, while still training me.

I think the units are close to a master's degree, but we don't get the degree. Our schools have to pay more for teachers with masters, so don't always want them. Do you do any student teaching in Oregon?

I just started my volunteering a few weeks ago. In Oregon it is a 5th year program as well but you do come out of it with a Master's degree. 1/2 of it is classwork "how to teach" type classes and the other 1/2 of the program is student teaching in a classroom. I am just sick of being a poor student and am ready for the working world (aside from my housekeeping and bed and Breakfast work). I am going to get certified for working with handicapped children as well. I have lived next door to an autistic boy most of his life and evidently Oregon has a shortfall for people certified with challenged kids. Thanks for the info. Becky, Teresa

I want to learn to crochet. I need a hobby. Something to keep my hands busy so I dont put food in them and then into my mouth :) Especially at night time!

Teresa... you will be saving my ears from frostbite! If I took up another hobby right now my hubby would surely knock me in the head! I can't wait to have my very own adorable hat and I will be happy to pay for the materials... shipping... AND your precious time! Just think... we can all where our hats for a pic at the next bandster bash!

Cute hat. Thanks for the directions.

Darcy I can send you a fleece one if you like. It's cold this am in Michigan also. Only 30 degrees as I left for work

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
