1200 calories 6 months out

Recommended Posts

1200 cals and 100+ Protein grams sounds good to me. That's about what I'm doing, too.

I am CRAVING Protein these days. Really craving it.

Am 6-1/2 months out.

I get about 900 calories and 100 grams of Protein a day. I'm very active also and am thinking I'm not eating enough calories. I'm over 5 months out. My dr says between 1000-1200 a day.

I was eating around 1000-1200 calories at 6 months. As long as you are losing, then keep doing what you're doing.

@@VSGAnn2014 @@Kindle @@AlanaRN I guess as long as we stay active, our body needs it. Not sure why I am freaking out over calories, pre op I could eat mountains of food in one sitting lol

Sounds like you're doing exactly what you need to do for yourself. Each journey is different. Keep up the good work!

Tomorrow will be 4 months since my surgery. My NUT and surgeon recommend 1000-1300 calories/day, min. 70 grams of Protein, max. 100 grams of carbs. I'm tracking my food via SparkPeople which is a huge help because it is so easy to consume more calories than I realize if I do not track. Some days I do eat fewer calories and some days I go over. I walk about 25 mins. on my lunch break more days than not and go to the gym 2-3 days for either some circuit training or elliptical and a couple other weight bearing exercises. I've found that when my weight stalls, the inches do not :)

This is a great question! I'm almost 5 months out, and eat between 400-600 a day. I'm currently in the middle of a 10K program and I do strength training twice a week. I've also been wondering if I should increase my calories. The responses so far have been great! I'm glad people were able to give you (and me) real experience advice.

PS: Great progress picture!

1200 is about where I am. I could easily do more if I wasn't watching it....munching...

today I am doing a fast. (600 calories) it is rough today. great work on your 1/2 training.

Am I eating too much? I am averaging 1100-1200 calories a day, mostly high Protein, no carbs. I go to crossfit twice a week, running twice a week, working out at home. I am training for a half marathon and ran 9 miles last saturday. Most people I ask seem to say 800-850. I try to eat less but I am not sure I can. After a 4 mile jog a week ago I almost blacked out....so I added an extra Protein shake a day and feel better. I guess I am terrified of stretching my sleeve

I was stalled but seem to be losing again, this week I went from 181 to 178

What do you guys think? My next doc appointment is in a couple weeks and I just want others opinions.

It varies. I am 6mths and one of those who still eats between 750 - 860 every day. I work out 5 -6 days a week. It works for me. If you are still losing and your nutritionist is okay with it then don't worry about it.

No way!

Look at how active you are.

I asked the same question to my surgeon. I too am very active and my job requires me to be on my feel 7.5 hrs a day. He told me if I am still losing, don't worry about the calories so long as they are healthy calories. Protein, veggies and fruits.

Some in here will say " yes, to many"

I say " no"

I agree if your burning a ton of calories through exercise you need to eat more.

Definitely not! I'm 6 months out and I eat around 1,200 calories a day as well. I'm not nearly as active as you, walk 4+ miles a day, 5-7 days a week. I think you are doing great!!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
