Lrckey0610 39 Posted March 6, 2015 I had my surgery March 3rd and well I'm starving already! My stomach feels so empty and grumbly. I'm drinking like crazy but I can't stop thinking about food :-/ I was hoping I wouldn't feel hungry for a bit but that's just not the case for me. Anyone else feel hungry so soon? NikkiDoc 312 Posted March 6, 2015 I did not feel hungry for a couple of weeks after surgery. Frequently the hunger early on is head hunger or reflux. Are you on a PPI or antacid? My bariatric "bible" suggested not sitting and watching TV with all the food commercials on. Try to keep busy mentally to distract from head hunger. Walk as much as you can. If you like to read then find a good book or magazine. I would skip Bon Appetite or the like. My stomach is frequently grumbly. That is just the nature of the sleeve. It grumbles and gurgles especially after I eat or drink.
Nikkidoodlebug 120 Posted March 6, 2015 Awww. I'm sorry. I really hope I'm not hungry, that is one of my fears, is that I'm going to be starving and I don't want that!! I really hope that it gets better for you! Try to drink your Protein, hopefully that can help. Good luck
Lrckey0610 39 Posted March 6, 2015 @@NikkiDoc I think you might be right about the tv thing. The commercials are torture. Flying back home today and it will be a long trip so I'm thinking today will be better. No time to think of food lol. I start full liquids on Tuesday. I can't wait Thanks Nikkidoodlebug :-)
kmc1986 3 Posted March 6, 2015 I got sleeved 3/3 too, and today I want food, would never think to eat it because I know I would be in so much pain. But the thought is killing me. Just 4 more weeks and I can have a more normal diet. I understand. ????
Lrckey0610 39 Posted March 6, 2015 @@kmc1986 I keep thinking the same thing, just 4 weeks and I'll feel normal lol
kmc1986 3 Posted March 6, 2015 Yeah it's what keeps me going. Still uncomfortable when the liquid digests which helps with me hunger cravings, but I think mine are all mental. It's still early I'm in a few days I'm be feening for a slice of pizza or grilled chicken!!!
Stevehud 1,790 Posted March 6, 2015 the grumbling is dual cause one from acid and two just from the new stomach getting used to itself i guarantee the hunger is really in your head, its the hard part to beat you have to think about why youre doing this and let that be your guide. livingstone 137 Posted March 6, 2015 I'm so glad you posted this because I have the exact same feelings - I was sleeved on 1 March. In hospital with nothing but daytime TV to keep me occupied, every single food advert made me crave. And although it can't happen (and that's why I need the sleeve) even right now I would love nothing more than to be tucking into some delicious fried chicken or a nice burger. Like others, I'm trying to keep away from adverts. If you don't like to read, then DVD box sets (broken up with walking) or Nteflix might help reduce the torture of the food adverts. The bizarre thing is, though, as much as I am craving bad foods, I do also feel physical hunger pangs. As in I feel like my tummy is actually empty. But I just keep telling myself that this is temporary. That doesn't make it easy. But I am so looking forward to grilling a breast of chicken and actually eating. If it helps - I occassionally tell myself that I am just at a 6 week boot camp, and the hunger is normal but temporary.

Just trying my best to ignore them because there's nothing I can do about it |-O. I'm not going to risk a leak. I'm sure I'll get through it, just glad I'm not the only one. So many people say they feel no hunger at first. Thought I was the first tried and true fatty lol
kyrickchick64 468 Posted March 7, 2015 I had on the gas x. So I really have no taste for anything. I'm 5 days putt and have only gotten a cup of broth down and Water. Dr says don't worry but the gas is killing me and I feel nausea
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted March 7, 2015 I assure you it's mostly acid. Get a good PPI, omeprazole or Gas-x strips. Give your body time to adjust to the new changes.

sallyomalley67 77 Posted March 7, 2015 (edited) My pain med gave me Migraines. I just stopped taking it the second nite after surgery and they went away. I make sure to keep hydrated too. Edited March 7, 2015 by sallyomalley67
