Looking forward to.....

Recommended Posts

I am really struggling with my pre op diet so decided I needed to think about some of the things I'm looking forward to as I loose the weight. Here's what I've got so far:

Not feeling like having a shower is a work-out, being able to easily tie my shoes, not hiding behind oversized clothing and not avoiding mirrors and reflective objects!

I'd love to hear what everyone else, particularly folks who are in the pre op diet stage, are looking forward to.

I'm 6 months post-op, but I still have things I am looking forward to. The main one right now is being able to ride all the roller coasters when I go on vacation at the end of this month. My family went to Dollywood last spring for vacation and I couldn't fit on most of the coasters and my husband didn't want to go on them alone, so he missed out on them. This year I will be able to fit in all the seats and I can't wait to ride them all and give my husband a chance to enjoy them as well!

Hi, I am new here, surgery date march 30th. I am nervous about a whole host of things. The pre-op is stressing me out and the first few days after the procedure. I know a lot of folks that got the sleeve some successful, some not so much. I can do this. I know I can, but I fear, I wont lose weight.

Man can I relate! We took our little girls to silver wood last summer and our 6 year old - who is very tiny- couldn't go on a ride cause I couldn't fit in it with her. We watched my hubby and our 7-year-old have a blast. Hubby took the little one on but I felt so humiliated! Can't wait to ride all the rides with them this summer!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
