Okay, so my surgery date is March 26 so technically I am supposed to start my 2 week liquid diet on March 12. The problem is that for the last week I have been eating so poorly (after 2 months of doing so well). I have put on about 5 pounds in the last week after having lost 25. I just do not have the willpower to not eat all the foods that I know I should not be eating. So, I have decided to start the liquid diet one week early. Is that crazy? I have read that some people are told to do a 3 week liquid diet so I figured I could just do that. What do you think? Has anyone else had a similar experience prior to surgery where they lost control of their diet?

As long as you are confident that you can stick to it for that long. 2 weeks is a long time as it is.

If u cannot stick to it and end up going off plan right before your surgery, that is not good.

The important thing about the liquid diet is that is meant to shrink your liver so it can easily be moved out of the way during surgery. If you feel like you can stay completely on that liquid diet for 3 weeks then it could definately benefit you.

Good luck!
