hanna91 33 Posted March 6, 2015 I am preop pursuing gastric bypass. Right now I only have a week of pto to take off for surgery. I haven't been at the company for at least a year so I don't qualify for fmla. Just wondering if you all think a week is enough time off ? I would have 9 days off ( including day of surgery). wcdaniels 48 Posted March 6, 2015 If you have a desk job you may be fine. I could've went back after 1 week if I had to (I'm a HS teacher), but I took 2 weeks just to be safe. You'll be tired at first, but as long as you don't have a lot of physical activity, and no complications, you should be fine.
hanna91 33 Posted March 7, 2015 Thanks everyone! I work a desk job so I'm hopeful that will be enough time.
xmeridith 7 Posted March 15, 2015 I went back to a desk job after a week, but the first few days I had to leave early. Mostly from fatigue and discomfort. I also had very frequent bm's which in a small office had me pretty freaked out too. Read other posts related to that situation for more details!!! Lol. Cupcake 801 Posted March 15, 2015 Hi congrats on you being healthy, I could have went back to work after 1 week after having surgery, after the gas came out I was feeling great after only 5 days after surgery and was driving and everything, just ensure that you get all your Water, Protein, and Vitamins in and walk as often as you can . Good luck you got this,
