canadian_girl 7 Posted March 6, 2015 Hi Everyone, I have been working with a surgeon and am considering bypass. I read an article today and it said that most complications show up once you are further out and that there are a lot of regrets once you have gotten through the "honeymoon period". It also stated that no one goes without complications or regrets . Can anyone comment on this for me?
James Marusek 5,244 Posted March 6, 2015 I would probably use the term "trade off". After surgery, I found it difficult to enjoy eating. I use to love to eat, to taste the variety of food. After surgery, it is difficult to enjoy a meal. It is more like a task. On the other hand, almost all my medical conditions (diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, GERD, profuse sweating, frequent urination) have gone and remain in remission. In addition I have lost 110 pounds and kept it off which gives me great stamina (ability to perform physical labor). I also went from a size 3X in shirts down to a size small and from a size 46 in pants down to a size 33.
SissyW 0 Posted March 7, 2015 Hi, I am a little over two years have lost 123 pounds. This surgery is a lot of hard work and not the easy way out. It's a life style change that's for sure and also a marathon not a sprint to lose the weight. I have been lucky and have not had no complications. I have no regrets and wish I would have done this years ago. Best of luck
