Having my one and only food funeral tomorrow before starting my pre-op on Wednesday. Going to my favorite place of all times and having my favorite meal. It's not totally unhealthy (fish tacos) but the bread they bring out before dinner is divine.....lol :D

I'm still working on eating out at my favorite restaurants before my surgery. Has anyone else done this? *AND* they just brought back my favorite m&ms of all time!

I have two more days - I'm almost running out of cravings :) Thursday morning, it's Clear liquids all the way. I shouldn't be doing all of these "last suppers", but oh well. I've even had a Pepsi and I haven't had soda in months. Might as well get all possible cravings out of the way, right?? I'm so naughty!

I'm not sure how I would have handled a two week pre-op diet. I'd like to think I would have rocked it. I wonder if the choices I'm making this week reflect how well I'll do once at maintenance? Anyone else worry about that?

Angelina73 I was discharged yesterday and my suggestion is to bring headphones and a night mask. My room mate liked to sleep with the overhead lights on. She also had company all day & night so the headphones helped to drown out their conversations. Pajama pants too-so you don't have to double up on Johnny.... Wishing you good luck!

I've heard that a heating pad is helpful and ditto the loose clothing. I've got a hospital bag I'm packing and have a book and iPod in there for some entertainment (still trying to decide on which knitting project to pack!)

Ugh, I really want to but I'm torn. I'm to start liquids/protein only this Monday. I didn't lose as much weight last month as I did the month before and I'm afraid if I don't stay 150% on track my liver won't have shrunk enough to have my surgery. It's so hard to battle in my head, but I guess I should liken it to what I'm going to deal with when faced with temptation post-op.

I'm just starting the program, and I totally understand. I have been having food "funerals" everyday. My surgery will not be before end of May due to work, but will get strict on myself after Easter. Good luck

As planned my "Last Supper" was a garden salad, zucchini stix, ribeye and a loaded baked potato. Dessert was berry Chantilly cake from Whole Foods. I drank a cup of Smooth Move tea before going to bed. I had a normal BM in the morning, pushed Clear Liquids all day. Drank 10 oz of Magnesium Citrate at 5 pm, at 7 pm I had a huge emesis. No bowel results until 3 am the next morning. It was so nerve racking. Had I known I wouldn't poo anything I ate I would have made better choices. if anybody has a one day pre-op diet and is supposed to drink Mag Citrate I'd ask if you can start taking it earlier in the day to make sure it works.

I have to start my magnesium at 2 the day before and if nothing happens by 6 I have to drink a second bottle. So not looking forward to it!

I did but not too bad. I opted for Small portions. I'm ready to end the cycle. 14 hours until I check in to get sleeved.☺️

I just started my 2 weeks liquid diet and my surgery is April 23rd. Question? My friend had bypass done in February and she told me that was ate hard boiled egg whites (no yolk) throughout the 2 week liquid diet. She said her surgery was fine and the doctor said everything looked good. Has anyone else tried egg whites or other alternatives?

I think every pre-op diet is a little different. Mine was only clear liquids and the 4 Protein Shakes per day. My coworker's husband had surgery a month before me from the same doctor and he was able to have low fat yogurt, cottage cheese and certain veggies in addition to the liquids. I stuck with the liquid diet and lost 13lbs before my surgery. Check with your dietician.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
