Is anyone successfully just exercising to DVDs at home?

Recommended Posts

I just ordered the Biggest Loser DVD's on ebay.

Now that the weather has changed, it's too cold to walk very far with my dog. I haven't gotten up the motivation to join a gym. Shopping for a treadmill has overwhelmed me - it's such an investment and I just can't settle on one.

I haven't been working out regularly for over a month and my weight loss has started to slow because of it.

Thanks for this thread. I hope the DVD's work for me ...

I have a couple with Jillian (from the Biggest Loser) that are HARD! They're a very good workout. I got them from Lady Foot Locker.

I would like to get one like learning to salsa or something like that. Just dancing in place is a pretty good workout - I can feel different muscles working. Me and my little boy dance a lot lately - he's really getting into dancing, and it's so cute to watch him (he's 3.5 years old).

I've never tried any of the DVDs in the Tae Bo series that Billy Banks does but I've got a friend who loves them. I bought one today at Wal-Mart for like 10 bucks that I'm going to give a try. It's celebrity fit cardio but I must admit the selection wans't all that great. I'm finding it increasingly hard to find out work out DVDs.

I have actually found something that I love. I have not been banded yet, but found this and will use it after surgery. If anyone loves to dance and has playstation 2 - there is a "Dancing with the stars" dance game that comes with a mat that you step on to do the steps. It goes quit fast, is very fun, and makes me want to keep going because it is competative (you want to up your score). I have not been able to stop doing it. I actually sweat alot and have been very sore after doing it for an hour straight. Just thought I would let people know. I think they also have one for the Wii but not sure how it works.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
