I was sleeved on the 4th and wasn't released until the 7th because I couldn't keep anything down. The pain was tolerable (hardly any) but the nausea was driving me insane. I am now able to tolerate fluids but feeling "full" quickly. Not sure how I'm going to sip throughout the day due to always feeling "full".

It gets better. I could only get a cup of Water down initially, after sipping all day. Now, I can get much more in! Trust, it gets better!

I was sleeves on March 4, woke up in a lot of pain from gas in my chest. I was released on Friday, March 6. Each day gets better but still very sore and get tired easily. Sunday I overdid it and went to the mall with my husband. I was exhausted the rest of the day. I am on a liquid diet only but still having trouble getting in enough. Pain is still in the chest and I feel full very quickly. Not sleeping well and can't get comfortable. I also have been very emotional. My husband can say one thing to me and I start crying. Have my 1 week follow up on March 12.

Day 6 and I'm having no trouble getting in the requisite clear and full liquids. I switched to Lactaid since every soup/pudding/protein shake made with milk caused some lower GI distress but that didn't seem to put it to rest. Anyone else dealing with this?

Ok here's my update: sleeved 3/2 out 3/3 re-admitted on 3/4 for nausea & throwing up released 3/6. Doing much better and I can keep liquid & Protein down but still struggle with a little gas pain. My foot swoll up yesterday & went back to hospital (dr. directed) no clots or issues just elevate. I am looking forward to this journey with the minor bumps????????????

I was sleeve 3/3 so late tonight marks 1 week post op. Gets better each day, I still struggle with getting enough liquids in without my body feeling full of air. It's not so much a normal full in my opinion. I do get tired too but not too sore, just aches and pains here and there. Congrats to all who are on the losers bench with me and making room for the rest of you!

I was done on Wed the 4th. It's very uncomfortable drinking anything, but I am trying to get the Protein in. The nutritionist said I'm probably still swollen so that should ease in a few days. I know this is a major operation, but I have to go back to work tomorrow. I teach high school.

Hello, I had vsg surgery March 6 at 1pm and the days have gone so slow but I am doing great for the most part. No complications with the surgery. The doctor said everything went well.. I just have to keep my Water intake.. That seems to be the hardest task is drinking the necessary amount of water or protein.. Gas pains were horrible but they're slowly going away and the incision pain feels like someone is sitting on my stomach especially when getting up to walk.

I had mine on 3/4 @ 2pm and went home the following day around noon.

The first two and a half days were hell for me. I couldn't sip Water without dryheaving. Once I added crystal light to it, and used tea instead, the nausea subsided and I've felt fantastic.

I do still have a slight dull pain in what I imagine is my staple line, but it's manageable.

As of Sunday, I've gotten in all my Vitamins, liquids and Proteins each day...YAY!

Congrats to us all!!!

I am at Day 10 and still feeling a lot of pain... mainly behind the main incision site... feels like I am being stabbed with a knife at times and sometimes it feels like it's burning in there... it is worse when I have to bend forward, sideways, etc... I called the surgeon yesterday and they said pain is normal as long as I am not sick or running a fever. Has anyone else experienced this much pain during the second week of post-op?

Yep, I have the same thing going on. I try to stretch the obliques over there by leaning side to side each morning and throughout the day. i think there is a lot of tissue cut out to remove the stomach and i have a feeling that is what is causing the pain. no fever though, so i assume all is well.

Just got sleeved yesterday, 3/9. There was some sort of delay so the surgery was pushed back an hour and 45 min which led to a few more nerves. I don't remember post op at all. I just woke up in my room. No nausea - they used one of the behind the ear Patches and adjusted the anesthesia so I was less likely to get sick. Pain is better than I expected. Just so unbelievably tired. I can't keep my eyes open to read. Will likely go home tomorrow but not until I can pee. That hasn't happened in a day and a half. But overall very good. Glad I did it.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
