I am not looking to get pregnant for a while (maybe 2 more years) but I have always planned for a home birth. I am wondering if any one has had experience with a home birth post RNY. I know many complications can happen because people don't loose all the weight first so they have the same risk factors as just being over weight. But with that aside, has any one had this conversation with their midwife or had the experience?

Bumping and following.

I should be released by my surgeon in January to TTC, and we want to do a home birth or a birthing center also.

Its good that you are planning from now onwards about home birth, there is no risk if you are persisting healthy pregnancy, see that you are alert about your monthly menstrual cycles so that to avoid any complications during pregnancy, you may also try coupelle menstruelle during periods so that your menstrual hygiene is also maintained.

Yes it is old, but I am about 6 months from begining to try to get pregnant. And our hope is that I will be able to have a home birth. Unfortunately right now I am about 30 lbs from my original goal weight. So I am trying to get back in shape and back on track to loose the weight before we start trying to get pregnant. With the hopes that I will be as healthy as possible, especially since I will be 34.

That's amazing

Having a baby is such a blessing, having gastric bypass alone doesn't disqualify you. My midwifes main concern for a home birth was placenta placement but I think for anyone that's a concern. Everything worked in my favor and we succeeded. Also If your an insulin dependent diabetic I think that disqualifies you

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
