Got told by a coworker today that I'm taking the "easy way"

Recommended Posts

You know the next time you see a person with a flat tire and you stop to see if they need help. Just think what they would say if you said... "If you use a compressor to fill that tire up you are doing it the easy way. YOU should just put your mouth on the valve stem and blow!" There are many ways to add or remove things and you have made an educated personalized plan for success. Let them blow their tire up anyway they want. Friend the proof is in the pudding. Be healthy and fit!

Awesomesauce! Love this!!! ????

In this world there are some (a lot of?) people who think they know all there is to know about almost any subject. They tend to be black-and-white thinkers who think there's a single correct way to do things and reject all other approaches as "wrong." They feel almost religious about the superiority of their right way vs. others' wrong ways.

Trouble is, they're hard-wired to think and act in this manner. In my experience, you can't reason with them or expect that that sharing your experiences with them will expand their perspective. They like the simple way their minds and lives are ordered and feel stressed at the prospect of having to change their minds. I'm not even sure they can change their minds.

It can be tough on both single-perspective people and multiple-perspectives people who have to work or live closely together.

Needless to say, this human attribute is not categorical, but a matter of degrees.

Easy to tell which group I fall into, eh? ;)

Commenting on weight changes in an employment setting often is considered sexual harassment. By and large, it happens to women (making sexual comments about their bodies) but not in all cases, as we can see. If there is no sexual nature to the comments, it's just plain old harassment, which also is illegal: http://www1.eeoc.gov//laws/practices/index.cfm?renderforprint=1

This was hit home to us in a recent HR training. The overall message was to not make any comments about anyone's body, period.

I am exactly one month out of my surgery (RNY) and if this is what anyone calls "easy" then I must be crazy!

I needed to do this for health reasons (many of them) and NOT to fit in a bikini...

Both my daughters were adopted, and I heard comments like this about our choice to adopt. We had it easy....no labor, morning sickness, or stretch marks.... REALLY???

6 years of infertility, medical testing and procedures, mountains of paperwork and studies to be approved. 13 month wait to be united with our daughter... not to mention over $25,000 and a 2 week trip to China to pick her up.

Easy? HELL NO!

Worth every bit? HELL YES!

I feel the same way about this journey... it is what is right for ME, and that's all that matters!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
