Vitamins making me sick

Recommended Posts

Ok....looking for hints. I am taking Celebrate Bariatric Vitamins. I am trying to get them all in but it's 13 pills a day and I am trying to find the right order to keep me from vomiting. It seems to be the Calcium I think that is making it horrible. They have a very "cleanser" type of smell that goes along with them. Any of you out there have any types/tips you would like to share on Vitamin taking? Because I know all surgeons can be different, my surgeon has me taking

B12 three times weekly

Vitamin D daily

B complex with thiamine daily

Calcium with D three times daily (thats 6 pills a day)

Mulitvitamin (3 pills a day)

the last is just my omeprazole which i may or may not keep taking--will find out friday.

thanks

It may be your vit. D, I take it with the cacium, they seem to go hand-in-hand. I have to take at least 5000 units of the D for my hyperparathryroidism, and it immediately will come right back up if I don't take it with Calcium. I also try to make sure I have some food (doesn't need to be a lot, just something for it to bind with) in my sleeve, and that seems to really help the nausea. Do you split up your Vitamins throughout the day? My NUT has suggested to do so, so what I do is this:

after breakfast: B12 (dissolvable)

multi-Vitamin

Biotin (dissolvable)

Vit. E

Vit. D (liquid)

2 calcium (chewables)

later in the day, by at least 2 hours: Iron (chewable)

early evening, at least 2 ours after he iron: 2 calcium (chewables)

Vitamin D is extremely nauseating for me, but it is not if I take the calcium with it. Good luck to you!

The calcium will block the Iron, so don't take them together, if you take iron.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
