I haven't had surgery yet.. but my sheet says the clear stuff is 24 hours, and then for 2 weeks, you have clear broth, high Protein drinks and health wise Protein Soups.

I also have a list of high protein sources:

optisource

Isopure

pure protein

Atkins advantage,

unjury powder

designer whey..

but so many of them say different things!

I was on clears for 5-6 days because I was still stuck in the hospital (the surgery revealed that I had a kidney problem and that had to be dealt with), but then I got to add in the other stuff I mentioned.

I cannot say enough awesome things about Isopure ready to drink Protein Water. It is clear Protein in a variety of fruit flavors, with a texture the same as juice or Water. After my experience in the hospital I developed an aversion to traditional Protein shakes, so I survive on the Isopure protein waters, and my surgeon told me last week that she's never seen anyone with a better protein level at 12 weeks out! The Isopure drinks do NOT come cheap, and some of the flavors are revolting (I gagged on the 'Icy Orange' flavor but love 'Alpine Punch', but my husband loves the Icy Orange and hates the Alpine Punch.). The Vitamin Shoppe has them the cheapest, and they have a cold case with individual, cold Isopures so you can try a few different flavors before committing to a case (which are cheaper on their website). They have a black tea that I want to try next.

Nope! It's what is called RTD, which stands for 'ready to drink'. It caters perfectly to my lazy side! They do sell Protein powders to make shakes out of, but I stick with the RTD clear Proteins for the texture (the lack thereof).

I just wish I were allowed to have any solid food. I'd kill for a salad. I'm on day 6 of 14 of the pre op diet and I've lost 15 pounds. I still feel like giving up at any moment, but I just keep moving forward.

I've been on this preop diet for about 3 weeks. I've not lost very much. I started august at 260. I'm now 249. I weigh as soon as I get up and after I use the potty

I wouldn't worry. People lose weight differently. I was 345, so I certainly had it to lose. :-P

After about day 4, it got a little easier for me. On day 3 I ate a single piece of American cheese and felt SO guilty that day four was like a redemption day for me, and then I refused to let myself feel that guilt again. But day 4 was much easier in terms of what I knew to expect and cravings seemed to be much more dull, too.

I DID take a protien drink and put it in the freezer in an ice cube tray--and then i crunched the pieces. I feel like that helped with my longing to chew.

I lost about 10 lbs on my 14 day diet.

I'm 19 days post op and I've lost 17.4lbs. I wish it would have been an immediate change in the mirror but it definitely wasn't. I had pain in the hospital, but it was a dull soreness after day 3 when I was at home. I struggled with fluids day 4 and sat with medicine cups and forced myself to sip 8oz each hour I was awake. Day 5 I did the same, but didn't feel the "pressure" as day 4. Day 6, i moved on to drinking small sips out of bottles and cups because I wanted it to feel "normal" as soon as possible.

I didn't feel "restriction" or fullness til I started thicker full liquids--like un-thinned yogurt, or bean Soup.

Omg I'm so bummed. The last 48 hours I'm supposed to do straight up liquids. I did that yesterday and I just woke up. Peed. Got on scale and it's a lb more than yesterday. Mother nature is coming and she's gonna make me mad with this Water weight. Any ideas on what I can do to take some water weight off without durex

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
