I am almost 2 yrs (May 20th) and I have no regrets what so ever. Have had no problems, nothing I can't eat with the exception of greasy foods. Sugar does not bother me, though I treat it like it does. I've lost 120 lbs, Been maintaining for the past year. Would do it again in a minute.

I would do it one hundred times again my only regret is that I did not do it early. The things that I can do now with my family as well as for myself is great. My doctor is so proud of me, I was off all of my meds before leaving the hospital but as of Friday it is official all of my comorbidity are gone which included a Type 2 diabetic, high blood pressure, and high chloysterial. My A1C level is a 4 . I am Loving Life agin and I am a gym buff and go to the gym five times per week and work out for 2 hours . I would have never even walk into a gym before this surgery , I have confidence and I am the now envy by others . I am only 9 months post opt but I know that I will reach my goal. This process and preparation has taught me a lot about myself as well as a lot about what is really important in life. As well as I learned that some of your so called friends are really not your friends . This is a new lifestyle changed that is very important for you. I wish your look on your journey. You got this,

Not in a million years!!! I had the lapband done in 2010 and in early 2014 it had slipped. I was sick for months after my 4th child was born and I didnt find out until the beginning of July my band actually slipped. I had 3 wks to decide whether I was going to have RNY when they removed my band (sleeve wasnt an option and insurance wouldnt pay for another band).

The recovery was much harder then I anticipated but once I learned to re-read my body and got into the groove it got a lot easier. I can now slip into a sexy size 6 and I am LOVING it! I am so proud of myself and the journey I have taken to ge here.

It might be lame but like they say, no pain, no gain (or, in our case, no loss). Good luck to you and if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me!

How did it go?? How are you feeling?

Thank you for this positive post, I need to read that it's all worth it. Tomorrow is my surgery.

I'm a year and a couple of months out and I can say honestly that its the best decision I've ever made for myself. After struggling since I was a kid with my weight, thyroid, type 1 diabetes I knew I had to do something. I'm very blessed in that I've not had any major complications. I've lost weight slowly and still have about another 20-25 lbs to go. The biggest thing that I've found is that you need to follow your doctors orders exactly. There's generally less complications when you stay on track and eat the right foods. I still have type 1 diabetes that is something that I'll always have, but I take less insulin and am just more healthy overall.

I'm 5 months out and can now say I'm glad I did it. The first two months, I was not glad! It gradually got better. I have no issues. I can eat anything and not get sick (haven't tried Pasta or rice yet) but I expect I'll be able to eat it. I'm a slow loser but content.

My surgery was March 23. I've had regret days mostly thinking about the future. Will I be able to eat a hot dog at a ballgame ever again. Can I have spaghetti at our family gatherings I figure these are minor issues. Then today I stepped om the scales and it was under 200 for the first time in many years. Cleared up some of the fears

I'm 6 days post. So far my the only 2 things I regret is getting myself to weight that I was, and then not having the surgery sooner!

Had complications. Bad complications. Had to have emergency surgery less than 2 weeks after RNY for two abscesses that I developed. I have never been so sick, weak, scared, exhausted in my life. It took me a long time to not regret it.

Almost 4 months out, feeling great, over 50 lbs gone, I no longer regret it. Like everyone else, just wish I had done it sooner.

I wouldn't say it's regret, but I do miss bread...

Hi, what did you experience with the abscesses? What symptoms ?

Intense pain on my left side, around my ribs. I had thought I just did too much. I wasn't nauseated, I didn't have a fever, nothing else but pain. Once I got to the Er, the blood tests showed my white blood cell count was triple what it should have been. After a few days on antibiotics, it wasn't helping and I actually got sicker, fever, nausea, my feet then legs then my whole body started swelling. And the pain was so intense I counted down the hours til my pain Meds were due. But once dr figured out it was abcesses, 2 of them, did surgery and cleaned it all out I finally started improving.

Like many others, my only regret is that I did not have it sooner. But you have to be ready. It isn't really like I got my life BACK. it is more like I've got it for the first time! Since I'm 61, that's saying a lot. I wake up happy every day. I can't wait to see what's going to happen next. It isn't easy. There is so much to learn. This is so much that is new. I am so grateful. I think that's the key. Also, drink your Water and go to support group!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
