Has anyone else started experiencing dizziness when standing quickly? This has came on in the last month. If I'm sitting and jump up to go do something I will get about 4 steps and all of a sudden get so dizzy I will have to sit back down. I took my blood pressure the other night after this happened and it was 110/60.

Yep. This happens to me pretty much all the time and I'm 6 months post-op now. My best guess is that it has something to do with low blood sugar.

Yes!!! I am six months post op too. Went to my doctor she said to eat more complex carbs to bring up my blood sugar and she is monitoring my BP which is running about 105/59 sometimes the top number drops into the 90's. I actually passed out last week when I got up to go to the bathroom. Didn't remember even going down.

Sounds like low blood sugar. You should keep almonds handy to snack on or a Protein Bar. It will help

All the time!! I get up from my desk at work and the world is spinning. Also when I'm in my workout classes ....for some reason they always want me to bend over and get back up a lot.. Just pace yourself

Yep me too but I do have a neurological disease. I think my blood pressure is too low. My bp has always been on the normal to low side anyway.

Yes, and I am very anemic, which is probably the reason. Working on that.

I almost just started a thread about this. Good to see I'm not the only one! I still may see my PCP about it just to see what is going on!

Yes. it's called orthostatic hypotension and can happen when your BP goes a bit low. I had it pretty bad immediately post op and still occasionally today 1.5 years out. One of my comorbidities was High BP so this was the last thing expected. Can happen if you're not getting enough fluids. Try adding some G2 to your fluids, (electrolytes and a little salt can help) and increase your Water intake. If that doesn't help, see your doc.

I almost just started a thread about this. Good to see I'm not the only one! I still may see my PCP about it just to see what is going on!

I have a follow-up appointment scheduled with my PCP in late April already and I thought I would try to just hold out until then to ask her about it. But now I am thinking that maybe I should try to reschedule it for a couple weeks sooner, since I know she'll want to do some lab work once I tell her about this dizziness situation....

I just had labs done with my PCP about a month or so ago for something unrelated. It was kind if spur of the moment, so I wasn't fasting so blood sugar was a little high and hormones were a little out if whack but otherwise they were good. I wasn't experiencing the frequency of dizziness so I didn't even bring it up to her. Although I think I had "white coat syndrome" in the doctors office causing a higher blood pressure reading, I checked it in a grocery store a couple weeks ago and it was very low....so I'm thinking that could be it. @@bikrchk I will take your advice and try the Gatorade and see how that works! Otherwise it's back to the doctor for me!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
