Its been 9 weeks since VSG and I've only lost 37 pounds since surgery. I really thought I would have lost more by now.

I was sick for a week and had IV meds and fluids pumped into me, I also had to get steroids cuz my lungs were shutting down....maybe this slowed my weight loss?

You're averaging 4lbs a week which is double the norm for nonsurgical weight loss. I'd say you're doing good. If you're having other health issues don't be so hard on yourself. 9 weeks isn't that long. Be patient & allow yourself time to heal. Are you doing any exercises? Once the doctor clears you for that, you'll see more progress. Chin up! It's a journey, not a race

Don't be discouraged. Just my perspective here, but you've already lost ~30% of your expected weight loss in 2 months! That looks like progress to me. In 6 or 7 months you'll be where you want to be. I'm sure it gets tough, but stick with it, and you'll do great.

I know your struggle is real to you, but as someone who has "only" lost 47 pounds in 6 MONTHS, posts like this are pretty upsetting. Really makes me wonder what rate people were expecting to lose weight at. I'd give my whole spiel about how the rate at which you lose is meaningless as long as you eventually get to your goal and how, unlike a diet, you are never "done" with your sleeve, but I just can't even today....

There's no race or prescribed amount you are supposed to have lost. Everyone loses at different rates. Some are fast losers and some are slow losers. When is the last time you lost 37lbs in 2½mths? Don't compare yourself to others. Continue to follow your program and you should be fine.

Thank you all. I just feel like I'm in a funk.

It happens to the best of us, thus my overly snippy response earlier. Sorry for that!

Please don't apologize! I needed to be reminded that I'm being whiny lol

I think that's great! Don't put so much pressure on yourself, as your body had had a lot of adjusting to do in that amount of time :) Keep up the good work!

How much would you of lost without the surgery...ask yourself that and it will total change your perception on the whole thing! Congrats that is an awesome weight loss!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
